Avoidance plans for Thursday?

My daughter just IM'd me about how distressed she is about the big-assed repuglifest in DC Thursday. Heavy drinking is under consideration, since I don't think we're gonna get to Aruba by then.

I thought if we got really creative we could come up with some good plans. And if not avoidance, then maybe obliteration (drinking games?)

My classic avoidance mechanism is watching Pride and Prejudice all the way through on DVD. But we just did that New Year's Eve (my very least favorite holiday in the calendar.) So - maybe a Sex and the City female empowerment marathon...

Have at it! Open to all suggestions.

I can't really drink either - don't much like to, to be honest, but she's young, and Thursday's club night in the big city. She was pondering how to make it a dem-only party. No gloating necessary.

My drinking game is pretty bad. If you took a drink every time a tv talking head kissed the ass of a * family member you'd be passed out in about 20 minutes.

12. I have it! Eureka!

I will treat it as a very special episode of Mystery Science Theater 2004. The setup is the same. I am being held captive and forced to watch the equivalent of a really bad movie. Time to break out the popcorn, diet Dr. Pepper and a hearty dose of sarcasm.

I will let my inner Carson from Queer Eye out to critique the notoriously bad taste Repubs have in clothing. (Not a decent Chamois among the lot of them.)

I'm pretty good at sarcasm. The hard part will be keeping my sense of humor going. It tends to hide itself whenever * is in the picture.

Are you bringing a camera? Can you post pics? Where are you going to be (roughly if you don't want to tip your hand.) Are you going with a group, is it a student thing? Do you need anything?

Can you take a piece of paper with you with my name on it? That way I will know that at least symbolically I am there. (Bless you!)

Call it a morbid fascination...and who knows, maybe something interesting will happen on live tv.

As for the festivities--naw, we're going out to celebrate our son-in-law's birthday anyway. But I will be wearing black all day, regardless!
