Hey, did you notice the Private accounts for SSI in the budget
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 12:56 PM by TayTay
Gee, neither did I. But someone on GD pointed that out. The PResident, without any fanfair or media notice has slipped his plan to destroy Social Security into the budget. He is shifting Billions into the private accounts plan and destroying survivor benefits and such.

Gee I hope this comes to the Senate Finance Committee. Who is on that subcommittee that deals with this stuff anyway:

SUBCOMMITTEE ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND FAMILY POLICY
Rick Santorum, PA, Chairman
Kent Conrad, ND, Ranking Member

Republicans
Charles E. Grassley, IA
Jim Bunning, KY
Bill Frist, TN
Trent Lott, MS
Jon Kyl, AZ
Gordon Smith, OR
Mike Crapo, ID

Democrats
John D. Rockefeller IV, WV
James M. Jeffords, VT
Jeff Bingaman, NM
John F. Kerry, MA
Blanche L. Lincoln, AR

Damn, those Rethugs never give up, do they! Someone must tell the AARP and the voters about this in this election year, don't ya think?

1. great.
I heard on the radio this morning that they are also attempting to defund AARP in the same budget.

They are so evil it's hard to take in. Thank god JK is on that committee. Pile of wishy-washies on there with him.

2. I cannot believe the Rethugs are doing this again
It just goes to show you that Evil never sleeps. (Not even little cat naps or dozing off in front of the TV. Sigh!) I just want this to be an issue this fall in the mid-terms. Bush's Social Security plan had less and less support the more it got mentioned. I want to see the Rethugs have to run on this puppy, cuz it's a big, big, loser. (Oh, and take that NYTimes. Dems can unite around issues, and this is one of them.)

4. I am now completely convinced
that the focus should be on Bush and the Republicans.

But before we get to that, what do the Democrats stand for? :sarcasm:
