Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund - We did it.
OK, I don't have all the cash in my hands, but I do have $905, and promises of exactly $95 more. We did it. $1,000 for the IFHF and the John Kerry Group paver.

As promised, I have bought a card for Imus. It's not the greatest, but it is two feet high, so it should grab his attention.

I will put a copy of the paver form, copies of our checks, and the list of JK's pro-veteran legislation in the card, and fedex it to Imus tomorrow so he gets it Monday.

What do you guys want to say? It was suggested that we include a challenge to other groups to match our donation. I think it's a good idea. I also want to tell him we're mailing the form and the checks to the IFHF on Valentine's Day.

And what, by the way, rhymes with Kerry? I swear I can't think of anything appropriate.

1. Wary -- we should be wary . . . well I can't think of a poem
but something about being wary of forgetting about veterans. Just a thought.

And, yeaahhhh!!!!! We did it!! Awesome!

5. OK, IB.
I'm sure I don't want to use several of those words to describe the Senator.
Luckily, one of the stooges on the Imus show's name is Larry. I think I can work with that. How's this?

Dear Imus-
We love you and Charles, Bernard, Lou, Rob and and Larry
But not near as much as we love Senator Kerry.

We have enclosed a copy of our donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, with a challenge to supporters of other Democratic and Republican congress members to match our pledge. We are also including a list of pro-veteran legislation sponsored by the Senator this past year, and challenge anyone to put any Senator or House member's list up against his.
We will be mailing our paver form and donation on Valentines Day in honor of the troops and the Senator.

-The John Kerry Group at Democratic Underground

17. Library. Good one.
Hmmm...maybe not.

Nice try, karyn. He's just not any of those things, and I can't find a way to set him in either a prarie or a library in a two line poem.

Maybe we need to stick with Larry. I think he's the guy who does the horrible impression of Clinton on the show. He sucks, but it's Valentine's Day.

4. Rhyming with Kerry
how 'bout tarry? If challenging another group, something about "do not tarry...we did it for Kerry" or some such thing? A poet I'm not.

11. Tarry... how about
(to be read on the air)

Now listeners, don't you be zeroes.
Please support our fallen heroes!
And don't you dare tarry
To meet the challenge of Fans of Kerry.

(okay it's corny but I never claimed to be a poet)

I double dog dare you to use the last one in a sentence, never mind a poem. (BTW, some of these things do not rhyme in Bostonese. Marry is not Kerry-rhyme cohesive, if you know what I mean. Kerry and Tarry do not rhyme. Merry and Kerry ryhme okay though.)

Thanks GV, you have both a beautiful heart and soul.

16. I refuse to write any sentence
that compares the Senator to a flowering plant of any genus, species or nationality.
Can't use berry, Leo McGarry or dairy.
The 'f' word is completely wrong.
Tom and Jerry? Hmmm...I'm not sure if he likes cartoons, although that would be interesting.

Hey, I do have a problem. Is Imus at Rockefeller Center now, and not at the WFAN studio in Astoria? I think he moved into the new studio just before Sen Kerry was interviewed.

Anyone know for certain?

Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 09:42 PM by karynnj
across the Hudson river from NYC. I see they have wrong information on the site.
googling Imus and Secaucus - here's something that might be useful:

Here from Media Matters:

MSNBC TV
One MSNBC Plaza
Secaucus, N.J. 07094

They had the same address on an MSNBC page for Imus interns.

22. How about a story
Once upon a time, in a kingdom by the sea, there lived a handsome knight. (Knight of The Order of the Silver Mane.)

Okay, that sucks. I yield to you and your better judgement.

27. Your book
Seems to have a bias toward cherries.
Sedentary, actuary, reactionary, Hallie Berry.
Still nothing.

Visionary! It's probably the best description of the Senator, IMO.

Oh well...

19. Very rhymes with Kerry
Kerry is very

wonderful
smart
handsome
sexy

oh yeah - this is about politics (blush)
truthful
caring
honest
intuitive about the needs of this country - veterans

Maybe something like that?

Where's Vektor?
Maybe she can write a clean Haiku?

29. Thanks so much, GV, for doing this!
This kind of goes along with what was said on the Ed Schultz thread, about how Kerry should do more radio. Even though Imus is no liberal, Kerry comes across very well on the show. Now his supporters are doing this for Imus's pet charity, which I think will create some good will over there. Everybody wins:

1. We do (feeling good about this)
2. Imus
3. The veterans charity
4. Kerry

Win-Win all the way around! Thanks again, GV!
