Kerrycrats, I've got news!
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 09:13 PM by WildEyedLiberal
After the birthday bash party, I got the emails of a couple of Kerry's staffers, whom I've kept in touch with for the past couple of months. One of them works for his Boston office.

It's official: I'm going to be interning for JK this summer in his Boston office.

BOSTON, LOOK OUT!

I shall be staying with one of our number, who will no doubt post in here shortly.

EDIT: I would NOT have had this amazing, wonderful, once in a lifetime opportunity if NOT for the wonderful, amazing souls in the JOHN KERRY FORUM who made the Birthday Trip happen. My deepest, deepest gratitude and love for ALL OF YOU without whom I would never have met John Kerry, never have met so many wonderful, LIFE-LONG FRIENDS, and never recovered from the depression of 2004. You are a lifeline, a beacon of light in the otherwise dark, cynical cutthroat world of politics, and you mean more to me than words can express. I hope I get a chance to meet ALL OF YOU someday, and I hope as many of you as can come out and visit me this summer in Boston!

3. Congratulations!
We can par-tee in Boston this summer. (Get Red Sox tickets now. They tend to sell out. You have to see the Sawx while you are in Boston in the summer. It's a must. Bleachers will do.)

We should have a mini get-together in Boston this summer. You will be here, the player to be named later will be here, I'll be here, we have lots of Boston folks here. This could be fun.

Congratulations to you! (Work hard and make us proud my dear as I KNOW you will.)

:bounce:  :dem:  :yourock: :applause: :patriot:

(BTW, I am so proud of you. This is wonderful.)

8. Oh yes, meetups this summer are a definite.
I am SO swamped with school but it's hard to concentrate on anything with this excitement looming on the horizon. I will definitely be in touch with you Massholes more as the date approches (and midterms aren't breathing down my neck).

11. You'll like Boston a lot more in the summer than the winter
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 09:37 PM by TayTay
It's way, way prettier than when you saw it in the slushy snow and ice. Remember to have some fun and enjoy yourself and take in the sights and sounds of the city. (Free concerts on the Esplanade, the World-famous 4th of July concert and fireworks that are second to none and all that stuff.)

Boston is the second 'youngest' city in America, after Austin Texas, in terms of the average age of it's citizens. The city is full of interesting things to do and see in the summer. Have a great internship, learn a lot and have some fun. This truly is the opportunity of a lifetime and I am so happy for you. Remember to keep us posted on what it's like and, ahm, have a great time!

And if we had something to do with this, so much the better. It's nice to know that 'they' know we are here and that 'they' recognize a great intern possibility when 'they' see one. Good for us all! Ahm, btw, want to take a tour of vote-rich Southern New Hampshire? I could show you some of the cities and towns and places that are famous every 3-4 years. No particular reason, but you are graduating in '07 and haven't made any plans yet for after graduation, right?

18. That's so awesome! I'm jealous . . .
I'd love to intern in his DC office, since I go to school in DC, but I'm sure those positions are hard to get. You're really lucky to get one! I actually have an internship lined up at the Heinz Foundation offices here in DC, and I was supposed to do that this semester, but unfortuntely my class schedule wasn't flexible enough :(. Oh well, I'm sure you're going to have tons of fun!

26. Actually, I'm going home for the summer . . .
I'm an only child and my parents are having major separation anxiety! And this is probably going to be my last summer at home, because I'll probably spend one summer interning on the Hill and another abroad. Plus, I'm going to work on a campaign at home - my congressman, Jim Davis, is running for governor of Florida, and he's a friend of my parents, so I think that'll be a lot of fun. I'm going to try to do the Heinz internship next semester. Sometime down the road, I definitely want to intern on Capital Hill, though. I have some people who I could intern for on the Hill, but I'm holding out for Kerry!

you might not get it this year, or maybe not even next. but something might come up someday.

another KErry forum member John Kleeb got to intern also . even though it wasn't for Kerry it was still good and he had the chance to see other congress members.

23. WOW
CONGRATS. that's so great. in a weird way i feel excited myself even though it's you who will intern for him. maybe it's because it feels like we are connected to him more. or that with you working for him if there is something we really feel he needs to know you can get it to him.

there are so many times i hope JK knows certain things (and he probably does) but it's good to know you will be there for him.

you will be on official record as a JK intern with photo and probably on his website. try to get as close to him as you can in that pic.

(hopefully this will help you get a job working for him after college, specially for a certain election campaign)

41. i just realized now, it's the Boston office, not DC
where you will be interning. that's probably better because there are laws which limit what one can do in their Senate office and just on Capitol Hill concerning campaigning, especially for another office.

working in Boston might mean you have more opportunity to work on things that aren't just Senate related and maybe campaign related. it also seems less formal than dc where there are other Senators and the actual Senate session going on. maybe you will catch JK in something other than business suit especially since it will be summer when he should take time to relax.

If you are an intern, and another Kerrycrat is going to be also....

I have no doubt in my mind that John Kerry will be the 44th President of the United States.

With the two of you providing the knowledge of being here, being on DU, from the blogishpere, you are going to be the best campaign additions to his staff. During the 2004 campaign I used to get so frustrated that no one seemed to be reading the JK forum, because if they were, things would have been alot different, they would have seen things from our eyes. And now - drum roll please - they will.

This is amazing. Awesome. Exciting.

Kerry in 2008.

Ohmigosh - I'm doing my Kerry cheers again!

Just on the practical side, what wonderful resume action!! Just curious, is this the type of work you want to do once you graduate (politics)? Even after John Kerry retires? Or does it represent a unique place in time? Either way, what a great experience you will have. You deserve it, with all the time and effort you have put in promoting the Senator on this and other boards!
