A co-worker of mine just signed up at johnkerry.com |
|
Big deal? She WAS a republican. She told me today that she was so excited to see an e-mail after she signed up from John Kerry. Said it was kind of a shock to see his name in her inbox. LOL.
The tide is turning.

That is super cool.
I think she'll like his emails - they appeal to TRUE love of country, not partisan squabbling.

20. I love how Kerry still keeps in touch with people |
|
And he updates both of his sites. His senate and .com sites.

3. She must have realized the hotness and was powerless. |
|
Once she has suitably acclimated to being on the correct side of the fence, we should invite her here for full immersion into the world of Hot Kerry Love.
Wait a minute - is this the woman that stole your issue of Esquire and held it hostage all day while she drooled all over the picture of John?

I'm glad to hear it. Maybe you could frame the swimming pool pic for your co-worker and leave it on her desk.
Sure would make the workday more enjoyable.

One at a time, the smart ones will see the light. :) The rest, the unfortunately ignorant base will remain, at least until the public tide is obviously and definitely turned away from *.
Just imagine how many women have resisted JK's charms, simply because he was not a Republican? Once they give up their party loyalties, there's no more reason to resist! It will become a stampede! :) :) :)

Sadly, we'll need more than that...
During his 1956 presidential campaign, a woman called out to Adlai E Stevenson 'Senator, you have the vote of every thinking person!' Stevenson called back 'That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!'

that so many people have been commenting on lately. It's also nice to see the residucal goodwill towards JK in 'the provinces,' if not in DC.

22. Remember when he had jury duty? |
|
He had jury duty not long after November 2004 and one woman was interviewed with being in the group and she praised Kerry and his leadership and how he was very open to everyone being involved and she said she changed her mind about him. I love that about Kerry. People who get to know him realize what they're missing. :)

Where are all those warm and fuzzy stories about how wonderful * is when people really get to know him?? ...crickets...crickets...crickets...
It's a sad to think that it may be that "nice guys finish last" in this political climate. That you have to lie, cheat, steal, and claw your way into power. I don't want to believe this. I still want to believe that you can have integrity and still be elected.
Throughout that campaign, JK attacked * only on his ideas and policies, not anything personal, I don't think so,anyway. Oh maybe a playful thing like "all hat, no cattle", but that's all. And that's still about ideas, or the lack of them! Sigh.
Which reminds me: Keith Olbermann referred to * and his energy policy tour last night, and expanded on Kerry's remark: "looks like more hat, less cattle!" :) :)

24. There is a reassuring way to look at this to: |
|
You say: "It's a sad to think that it may be that "nice guys finish last" in this political climate. That you have to lie, cheat, steal, and claw your way into power. I don't want to believe this. I still want to believe that you can have integrity and still be elected. "
But Senator Kerry did have integrity and was elected several times and even won the nomination for President of a major party. He did this in spite of not only having integrity, but actually following that integrity to assume controversial roles at least 4 times in his life (VN, Contra, BCCI and the POW/MIA). He went well beyond just having integrity.
Even then, assume that his first marriage was less complicated and had held together, he could have been the ABC (anybody but Clinton) candidate that worked. (Although having Kerrey and Kerry would have been weird).
I ageee with you that I really can't think of any genuinely mean or nasty Kerry comment.

27. While there is almost certainly some truth to your comment, |
|
I also find it frustrating that the right wing acts like it has a monopoly on nice guys, and that the media enables that. I was so frustrated hearing Republican after Republican claim that John Roberts or Samuel Alito should be confirmed, and such Nice People with Judicial Temperament shouldn't have to be subjected to extensive questioning. When JK was running for president, I think the media disabled any discussion as to weather or not he was a nice guy, or if the fact that he carried himself like a president mattered (and I think it did.)
That's what's so screwed up about the media. Nice guys finish last because they don't get portrayed as nice guys.

Nice, nice work GV: I salute you :patriot:
I have always wondered how that pool pic wound up being the pic that one of the 3 US national news magazines used to sum up the year JK had in 2004? Love the pic, but it was an odd pic to choose for a summary of the year. I wonder what the backstory was on that one and who at the magazine chose it.

And PA is a swing state! Was there any issue in particular that impressed her or was it your wonderful Boston trip stories?
This is such a great thing to hear - especially in the roller coaster emotiona; world of hearing something nice (usually something Kerry sponsored/wrote/did) followed by something that angers or deflates the positive feeling. (Yeah - I do remember Tay Tay warning about this)
Thany you so much for posting this.

26. I had a similar (but less dramatic) experience |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 01:06 PM by whometense
Sunday.
A guy from Philadelphia flew into town with a cello for my daughter to try out (don't ask - it is one weird little world), and after the business part of the visit was over and before we drove him back to the airport we had some tea and ended up talking about politics.
He was definitely no republican, but as we were talking he wondered out loud who there was who could lead the democrats in 2008. (He was not a Hillary fan.) So there was this pause (wuss that I am - I hate hearing evil things said about Kerry) and then I said, well, I am still 100% behind Kerry, and if he decides to run again he doesn't even need to ask for my vote.
And to my pleasure (and surprise) he agreed with me. I guess he wasn't dismissing JK as much as he was assuming that he wouldn't run again. If a lot of other people feel the same way, it's possible that hill he'd have to climb isn't quite as high as once thought.
As an aside, my politics-averse daughter (still badly burned by the 2004 results) said to me as we got in the car this morning (and out of the blue), "I still haven't met anyone who actually supports Hillary for president."
