1. It's terrible, I haven't been able to move Kerry up at all. I tried voting
poor for Feingold and for a moment that moved him down to two, but he bounced right back up.

2. They are using some kind of software to hack it.
It's like those bidding things they use on eBay. Just a guess, but it seems like that's what they are doing. It is set that if you vote for Kerry, the thing automatically puts in more votes for Feingold and against Kerry.

3. Well, I guess they make it necessary to rate Feingold poor on
everything. If there guy is so good why to they have to resort to such hi-tech sabotage in order to advance they "winner"?

4. It is set up so that Kerry can't overtake Feingold.
Feingold can move from 1-3,but Kerry can't move past four. I do not have enough computer experience to override what they have done. I wonder if we can contact someone about this?

5. Not really - for this second, Kerry is 1
There is just someone (or more likely someones) doing the same thing we are doing - voting Feingold, Boxer and Kennedy up and quite possibly Kerry down to get the order they want. (It's obvious they don't hate (or even dislike Kerry) because they seem intent ONLY on putting the others as 1-3 and they are content with Kerry as 4.

6. I am sorry, but they are doing more than we do.
I was on there for a long time trying to move Kerry up, but he wouldn't budge. As many times as I voted Kerry up, I doubled the negatives on Feingold and the result was the same- Feingold always can out ahead of Kerry. I really have no explanation for it. I had much difficulty and apparently you did not.
Of course this proves how unreliable these things are.

11. I had the same experience - but they gave up first
I think maybe there may have been more than 1 Feingold person (or Boxer or Kennedy) working at the same time. There was a time - when the scale changed from 7 to 6 and all the lines looked the same length, that it looked hacked. At the same time, one poor score moved people at the bottom down several places.

Also, there is no measure of how much difference there is between adjacent people. Sometimes it takes very little, sometimes a lot. It's also obvious that some Feingold people learned of the site a week or so ago. The question is whether they are less obsessive than the supporters of another Senator.

7. My friends, it's only a poll, right?
Don't sweat the small stuff!
And I did hesitate putting this in this group, knowing how strong of heart most are here, but did anyway. :hi:

10. I sent them e-mail last evening.
I told them that I believed it had been hacked and asked if they could check it out.

I didn't hear anything back from them, so maybe it was just a coincidence or whatever.

I know it's just a silly thing and not scientific, but I still desperately want Kerry to win it...LOL

I vote him up every day.

12. They have ways of tracking IP addresses to see if the system is
being cheated. They can check computer, IP address, screen resolution, operating system and other factors. If 50 votes come in from the same computer in an hour, they can block that IP.

My thoughts were that this was some kind of automated software to automatically up Feingold when a vote was cast for Kerry. I'm certain that the site could detect this. Kerry is back at #1.

13. I assume that means 50 for a specific candidate
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 02:39 PM by karynnj
because if you opted to vote on all of them once each (quite legit) that would be 100.

14. Yes. 50 for one senator all from the same IP address on
the same day would indicate hacking or massive cheating. If they saw that, they would probably delete all the extra votes and they might even block the IP address from their server. Some dialup companies give you a different IP address each time you dialup. However, if you are running Windows 2000XP and using Netscape 7.2 and have a screen resolution of 800 x 600 (just a few of the things they can track) they might figure it out even if your IP is slightly different each time. I don't think the site uses spyware because(haven't found any) but you never know.

Kerry's back in first place probably no large-scale cheating was found like it must have been with the Feingold voting. If any of us tried to compete with the hacker on that occasion, those votes were probably deleted too, but since more people are voting for Kerry to begin with, he's still #1.

Aw heck. We always knew he was #1 anyhow. :)
