Is it just me, or do we now have a group of people who think Boxer |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 01:35 AM by LittleClarkie
is the only Senator.
I think they've crowned her Saint Babs.
Hoo boy. God love her, but I don't think it's a good idea to put her on a pedestal.
And I didn't appreciate, in a thread talking about Kerry's PAC, someone coming along and saying I should support Boxer's PAC instead. It's not a contest people. And the guy who wouldn't sign the anti-Rummy petition because he doesn't want to support Kerry in 2008. You have GOT to be joking. Some people think it's bad for Kerry to have 2008 aspirations. I think it's terrible that some people are already fighting the primary battles.
Oye shit.

3. Wasn't Boxer on the "Evil Dem" list before 1/6? |
|
If not, she will be soon. It doesn't matter what she does or doesn't do; she'll end up on the shit list because these whiny-assed malcontents live to bitch.
She'll probably vote to confirm Condi. I hope she doesn't, but I won't think less of her if she does.
But what will the lefty freepers do then? THEIR HERO WILL HAVE SOLD THEM OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 BARBARA BOXER, YOU DLC BUSHLITE SCUM....

She won't be for long, by nature of their temperaments. They're so dogmatic and purist, the moment she votes for something against their agenda, she'll be tossed out to the dogs.

And all the great stuff she's done over the years, working her ass off? Forgotten. Either it's "ancient history" or it doesn't even exist.
That just might be the thing I hate the most about the bashing, honestly. They want that "lone voice in the wilderness" feeling so badly they'll write revisionist history to pretend NO ONE has ever stood up for the truth, in whatever way, ever. (Except whoever's on their pedestal this week, preferably someone not currently in any position of power).
Well, yeah, I guess there is no one "fighting for us" if you define "fighting for us" in a way that's designed to make sure no one can meet the test.

They rig the game, then complain about no one being good enouugh to win.
And as a history student, NOTHING pisses me off more than revisionist history. I have seen two new conservative "history" books come out recently that completely rewrite the history of the United States, whitewashing all negative events that might shed a bad light on Republicans while remaking genuine liberal heroes like FDR into villains.
Our side is supposed to be better than that, dammit. They're the ones who rely on lies and slander to make their case, not us.
I think this goes to the core of why I hate lefty freepers so much. And even more so because they are willing to do the lying and slandering to one of our own, a good, decent man.
I seriously feel like one of Christ's disciples, watching in horror as my kind and gentle leader is crucified by the wicked and unjust.

I'm back to Adam Ant again.
"Every rebel that I've met say they're going to die and yet I see them now and they ain't dead yet, and pushing forty one."
I love Friend or Foe
But yeah, I've said it before. He's either Rodney Dangerfield, in that he gets no respect, or he's Jesus, in that he's a good man getting crucified.
Or he's just Johnny Velcro, in that everything sticks.
Which only makes me love him more. I do so love an underdog.

...that the "chickenhawk" mentality is NOT limited to Freepers or the Freeper pantheon.
You are dead on, Withywindle; these punks don't really want anyone to stand up for them. They want to be perpetual victims and martyrs. There is an ego trip associated with that feeling of self-righteousness, of feeling more "pure" and "noble" than anyone else. But if push came to shove, and all of their Chicken Little scenarios truly did come to pass and they alone "understood" and had the opportunity to do something about it, I have a very strong suspicion that they would wimp out again and whine for someone to do it for them. Claim to support the cause, but not put their money where their mouths are and want others to do it for them.
Chickenhawk mentality.
When I see what this phenomenon has done to the Republican Party, I have legitimate, plausible, rational fears that they are going to turn the Democratic Party into something just as bad. IF their doomsday scenarios happen, THEY will have had a stake in bringing them about.
There is NOTHING "liberal" about this kind of hate, intolerance for a SINGLE screw-up, and grudge-holding. It's an extreme right-wing mentality and it horrifies me that some on our side are developing it.

I just suggested that Boxer isn't the only senator of worth in the thread that seemed to take exception that "Kerry was ruining what Boxer had accomplished."
I also suggested that it would not be cool when she did indeed fall off that pedestal some have her on.

they have a serious ADD problem. Give them five minutes and they'll be off flaming someone else. ;-)
It seemed to me that the dem senators had that whole thing choreographed yesterday, and they were all on the same page. Boxer was the attack dog, which is what gets those GD idiots all inflamed (the smell of blood in the water...) Theya ll played their parts perfectly.
That said, I did start to have some serious Kerry/Boxer '08 fantasies yesterday...note: KERRY for president.

Condi. These people cannot give him any slack or credit no matter what he does. They are insufferable. I'm hanging in here for the rest of the day. They make me so furious.

I don't go over there anymore; that place is what drove me in here in the first place. Maybe I'll start going back when all this crap settles down a bit.
I never thought it would come to where I had to avoid the main board on DU of all things. I avoid Freeperville for the same reasons: too many people there with heads like rocks with whom there is no point in wasting one's time arguing. Such a shame--and I do mean that.
