An open letter to Senator John Kerry (or My President...)
Dear Mr. Kerry,

I don't know if you indeed read our forums and posts, Your Step Son Chris and Elizabeth Edwards do, so I figure it may be a possibility that you do so as well. I wanted to thank you for your efforts for running for the highest office in our Land. You had my vote from the beginning, even before you picked John Edwards as your VP. Your status as a Vietnam Vet touched my heart, My Dad served too, signed up for the Army, didn't allow the draft to hit him, despite a reportedly high Draft Number. He's been gone 25 years, now.

You are the best hope for this country, Mr. Kerry, The knowledge you have is critical to developing allies instead of enemies. You have been to War, you know what our troops are going through in Iraq, You wouldn't treat them like they were disposable. You fought for this country both here and abroad, and I respect that above all else. You, Sir, are a Hero in my eyes. Your Love of this country, earmarked by both your Military Service and your Government Service is astounding. There are those that called you a traitor this past election, I noted that most of them hadn't set foot in Vietnam. To me, the fact that you protested after the war showed that you were indeed a Patriot. If something isn't right, You fight to make it either go away, or to Right your wrongs. You righted yourself with tireless efforts concerning fair treatment of Our Veterans, not to mention the work you did with the POW-MIAs.

Concerning the Election, I really think there is a rat. None of the Exit polls, Zogby, or any other indicator of Who was going to win was Correct. That is literally like 250 million to 1 odds. I have been assured by your last letter to your supporters that "every vote will be Counted" and I believe you. We have Adopted a saying on DemocraticUnderground.com and it is this: I BELIEVE. Sir, I believe that you will be everyone's President, Not just the 55 million of us that Legitimately voted for you. You've proven that you have our back, and rest assured that we have yours. I BELIEVE!!!!

I have written this on my own accord, But if any others want to sign with me, Please feel free. It is a long shot that he even reads the boards, But if he does, I want him to know how at least I feel. We Love you Senator, Honestly, we do.

Andrea, One of the 55 million who haven't indeed lost their mind and voted for you.

1. Being that reading this made me cry
I will have to say that I agree 100%, and to see my post in 'what brought you to support John Kerry'.

I hope if/when there is that day you are finally inaugurated, you will have heard or read or known of the dedications to you here in these forums - and to hear you say back to us, "I BELIEVE". I can't say it enough.

4. Proud to sign your letter
Thanks for putting into words what so many of us feel. I am more proud to have supported John Kerry, than any other political candidate in my lifetime.

Senator Kerry, you have stood for and represent what is best about America. As a veteran, I respect and honor your selfless service in Vietnam and back home. There is no doubt in my mind that your efforts saved many that did not need to die in a senseless war.

You ran a positive campaign against a corrupt administration, a corrupt voting system, and media giant, bought and payed for by the opposition. Senator Kerry, you are the reason so many Americans turned out to vote, and we believe that you won this election. We hope that those responsible for the fraud are brought to justice, and that the integrity of the voting process is somehow reconciled.

Regardless of the out come of this election... Please continue to take this fight to those that would claim absolute power. You will have the power of the people behind you. If this election proved anything, it is that Americans do care about our country and our future.

5. Senator Kerry
I'm not sorry for one hour I spent working on, one ounce of energy I devoted to, or one single dollar I donated to your campaign.

I've voted for (and volunteered at some level for) 7 Presidential candidates but none I believed in or loved more. You'll always have a place in my heart.

You made me so proud to be a democrat, a catholic, and a north-easterner :)
God Bless you always.

7. WE STILL GOT YOUR BACK SENATOR
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 08:49 PM by Forever Free
This last presidential election was my first. My first ever job was working for the Democratic National Committee, raising money to help get you elected. It was a hard and grueling job, but I don't regret one second of it. Rather, I view it as a great opportunity for me to be able to help my country.

You were the first candidate that I came to believe in. Don't listen to those pundits in the media. You truly represented the heart and soul of America. Watching you give your speeches and address the nation in the debates, I saw the man behind the name. I came to greatly admire and respect that man. I only hope that one day I can meet you in person and tell you face to face that we all still got your back. Keep fighting the good fight, Senator.

Sincerely and respectfully,
Will

8. Being the Author of this Thread, I asked
Little Clarkie to please include it in her birthday well wishes for OUR PRESIDENT, She graciously agreed. (You Rock, Lady.)

So with that... I begin.

Mr. Kerry---Or, My President

Happy Birthday, Sir. From one December Baby to another, I will joyously light a candle for you on Your Birthday. I would ask the same in return, but the entire nation parties on My Birthday...New Years Eve, so that is more than enough for me.

I can't explain how I feel about you, Sir. I have never fought this hard, and supported someone with so much energy. I Look to you as a standard, one that shakes Status Quo if need be. One that does right even when "right" seems "wrong"... I will steadfastly stand by you, My Choice stands. You are that choice. So, To the Distinguished Gentleman, Born in Fitz Simmons Army Hospital in Colorado, and a Proud Citizen of Massachusetts... I wish you the Happiest Birthday of all... AND MANY MORE!!! This Proud Pittsburgh Born Vietnam Veteran's Daughter needs you, As does this Country!!!! Keep the faith, Keep the Standard and above all, Keep this in your Heart....
You are the Future of this Great Nation, Keep the Faith, Senator and have a joyous day!

With overwhelming Support and Affection,
Andrea

9. And this was my reply
Dear Senator,

You are the first politician I have ever worked for in my 41 years of life. I have never given money or volunteered for any campaign before now. I started this election season a Clark supporter, as he said some things about the war that mirrored my own feelings. I have to thank him for being my “starter” candidate, but I must say I was still very politically unaware at that point. As he left the race and asked us to support the party nominee, and as I became more disgusted with the current administration, I slowly turned in your direction and started the hard work of informing myself on the issues and on you.

Through my reading and listening, I discovered our candidate was a man of courage, intelligence, knowledge and integrity that I was very proud to support and work for. As the daughter of a Navy veteran who died this year in February, it meant a lot to me to see your dedication and caring for veterans in particular. (And no one better tell ME that the Navy doesn’t know how to give out a medal or I will have WORDS with them. Loud ones.) Whether they all know it or not, you’re the best friend a veteran could have. You, sir, are a true patriot who knows the real meaning of the words “Support the troops.”

I have to say that I have never felt this way before about any politician. I wanted desperately for you to be our president and save the country, and I still mourn for what might have been. But regardless of what happens in the election recounts, I know you will continue to fight for us. And I will continue to support you in any capacity that is within my power.

Thank you for being there for us, and know that we will continue to have your back. Throughout the campaign, I used to tell people that I was a Clarkie for Kerry, and that I was reporting for duty. Civilian though I am, if I ever meet you, I’d like to return that salute you gave us at the convention.

Be well,
Little Clarkie

10. Senator Kerry
Dear Senator Kerry, (My President)

I want to thank you for the wonderful job you did during this campaign. You have always been a hero of mine for many years now. I watch the Senate on C-SPAN all the time. I guess you can say I know which Senators have my back and which ones don't. I have to say I'm addicted to politics. I hope you run for president again in 2008 because this country needs you as it's leader. I feel that you would be the greatest leader this country has had since John F. Kennedy.

When you announced you would be running for president in 2004 I don't know who was happier me or my daughter. My daughter is also a big supporter of yours. She wasn't old enough to vote this election but she was out there right along with rest of us working. She is also addicted to politics. She says she looks forward to voting for you in 2008. Me and my daughter have alreay made plans for 2008. We have already decided wether you run for president or you choose to run for Senate again we will be there ready to roll up our sleeves and get back to work and are looking forward to doing so. We just hope it is president. Again thank you for all you have done and you will continue to do. You are our hero!

Misty
