In honor of a wonderful Senator for a kick ass week :)

1985, Kerry was sworn in as a US senator by George HW Bush, father of his future political rival.
Very quickly after taking office he was given a coveted seat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the panel he had testified before in the early 1970s.
He made a name for himself investigating allegations that the Reagan administration was illegally supplying aid to the Nicaragua Contra rebels.

And one man continued to fight for our country, and the other turned into a snake.

Thank you John Kerry for being a true hero!

10. You mean from the Kerry/McCain picture?
That was the POW/MIA committee set up to investigate whether US POW were still being held 20 years after the war. The committee carefully investigated the issue and also negotiated getting US remains returned. Kerry was chairman and Smith of NH was ranking member - McCain didn't want to be ranking member. The committee, I think, no longer exists since it completed its final report a long time ago.

12. Great Pics!
Here are a couple of new ones (for me anyway). I found them on e-bay. Need to go back and look for more when I have the time.

Kerry and author Arthur Miller in '72.

This was a button from the campaign.
