It also reminds me of what an intelligent press corps would have shown.

3. I'm glad Kerry responded |
|
I read the original article, and the author was passing info on received from Alterman.
This is exactly how false info spreads, and Kerry wanted the record set straight. He did that again yesterday with the quote from Fowler on the so called focus group. I think many of the so called establishment Dems, need to get a grip and quit playing the blame game and focus on uniting the party. You never hear them taking blame on anything to easy to blame Kerry for it all.
On the media, I felt yesterday that Kerry wanted so much to tell Timmy boy, just how much the media was at fault for so much mischaracterized info during the campaign. The thing is, since the administration is blaming everything on the media, it just wouldn't of come across right at this time.

has some very harden notions about JK that are false on many levels. Nary a decent word ever comes from him.

An indepth look at the IWR vote. Thanks! I believe JK was being sincere. But that guy has a right to be a bit cynical, because he was still being fair.

4. But even when being "cynical" |
|
he assumed good thinks about Kerry - as when he wrote the conjecture that a decent man, feeling the only way to end an inevitable war, was to become President would collaborate with his colleagues. (which Kerry denied)
It really does seem that Lieberman really doomed their attempt to fix the IWR. I think there still would have been war if the BL amendment passed, but it would have been with a second vote - where Kerry would have been a no. (I think many Democrats would still have voted for it - as several were still pro-war at that time.)

10. yeah that's what I was getting at |

He was fair enough to look at things from both sympathetic and unsympathetic points of view. Reasonable, not a partisan hack.

9. Oh, it takes forever! Are you a new user? |
|
Even if you have an existing user id, it takes forever for them to put up comments, and lefty freepers seem to get theirs printed first and/or lefty freepers are on there 24/7 waiting for a Kerry post so they can bash it. I wonder if there is a way Kerry (or even Teresa) can sweet talk Arianna into her website becoming friendlier to him. If it was like DailyKos, that would be one thing, but all of the comments are reviewed first, so why do they allow the non-stop Kerry vitriol?

13. Ariana hasn't been too Kerry-friendly |
|
At least there are more posts which are pro-Kerry, or at least which go beyond the usual anti-Kerry arguments.
Hopefully my response will show up there while people are still reading the thread.

12. So much misinformation in comments |
|
Reading the comments shows why there so many in the blogosphere have the impression they have of him.
Many people believe Kerry actually said "I voted for the war before I voted against it." Even if they know the real quote, they don't understand the background in which this makes sense.
The Grand Canyon statement also keeps getting mangled--saying Kerry said he would still vote for the war knowing what he knew then. Actually the his statement was more along the lines he would have still voted for the authorization to use force--but would have used it differently. In other interviews at the time he also spoke of using the athorization differently--to achieve a diplomatic settlement as opposed to going to war.
I did post a comment there, but if it is like my other comments there it won't show up until after the discussion has moved on.
