1. These people are not doing right by Feingold
If Feingold is a worthy candidate, he will win acclaim on his own merits. He doesn't need these negative internet hitmen tearing down other candidates in order to make him look better. In light of Feingold's praise of Kerry's Iraq plan, I do not think Feingold would approve of these people. At all.

5. The mods allow it, the admins evidently allow it. Etc. If there's no
mechanism on the site for discouraging slams like that, I have little apology to make for calling those posters obnoxious little heels.

9. Neither do I
But inevitable, our posts will be deleted, while the others remain. That's happened to me more times than I can count. It's pretty blatant, if you ask me.

14. ----attempt to delete thread failed owing to time constraints----
Attempt made reluctantly, as there is evidently an amnesty on slamming the party's standard-bearer in 2004. It's tough to adjust to the rules when the rules aren't universally applied.

3. This is against the rules
I appreciate the sentiment, but we're not supposed to do this. Just sayin'. Not like I'm Ms. Rules or anything, obviously, but this is one Skinner gets real testy about.

those in charge permit slams.

There sure were plenty of them, too, in the months leading up to the nomination, and it just goes on and on and on.

If the mods and admins won't set any standard against character slams on Democrats, the only assumption I can make is they don't care.

6. We met WillPitt at the event yesterday and he said this as well
It is very difficult to start threads on Kerry in GD because they seem to devolve into Kerry-bashing. Sigh! that's life in the big liberal city!

The thing about free speech is that everybody thinks they have it. Damn!

13. Agree. But can I then post a thread that asserts that the reason
Feingold's marriage broke up means that he's impotent?

I no more know that than I know Julius Caesar's tailor, and it's reckless to pretend I do.

But the anti-Kerry group just blasts on through with no leave and asserts indefensible claims against a man who was probably elected president.

That's stupefyingly rude to me.

Ahm, obviously no one responding in that thread is from Mass or, ahm, knows their history if that is a typical accusation. Bwaahahahahaha!

That made my night. thanks!

19. Hey TayTay. You're welcome and thanks right back.
I loved that damned speech this weekend and I love great people who make history in our behalf.

And we know who we're talkin' about.

I've noticed they let Kerry bashing threads go on the longest before stopping them.

10. They do. Other boards have the same rules and they get
plugged immediately, or very soon.

But if there's one rolling that comes at Kerry's expense, and there are hundreds and hundreds, there's no intervention.

12. Wildeyed Liberal, like the others, you were brave and clear in that
recent Kerry-bashing thread this evening.

I thank you for that, although this group is like that all the time, so I should extend the acknowledgement to everyone for more than just this evening.

I will be thinking about nights like this on the next fund drive.

And remembering also that an altruistic and affirmative response to other candidates is not always returned in kind.

It is disheartening to see Senator Kerry slammed repeatedly on these boards without intervention.

I know exactly how betrayed you feel. I have always seen you go out of your way to be kind to all candidates. I am not quite so generous, but I DO avoid speaking negatively about Democrats (unless said Democrat has truly done something I find odious), and I have made it clear that I support the entire party and chip in a good word here or there for Feingold or Dean or whoever.

When that charity is repeatedly spit on, I begin to lose my inclination for it. There is a particular poster here who absolutely ignores any positive or kind posts I make in response to their OP or their favored candidate, but if I dare disagree with even a hint of what they advocate, they jump all over me and accuse me of being divisive, inflammatory, etc. It is beyond galling to watch any overture of peace be met with silence and apathy, and when finally I am compelled to disagree, it is I who is attacked.

I honestly cannot recall an entire original thread started by a known and avowed Kerry supporter with the express purpose of slandering another Democrat. I know some here dislike certain other Democrats, and some are more vocal about it than others, but we are not a monolithic group, so that is to be expected. But I must honestly say that (excluding the primaries, I was not here) I have never seen a Kerry supporter start an entire thread just to attack another Democrat. Ask hard questions, perhaps. Attack? No.

It just makes me tired.

18. Nicely, nicely put. The intent of a thread is a starting point for
potential building and reinforcing of our party.

I agree with you that there aren't any monolithic groups, and at the same time I agree also that this group strives to find accord and express affirmation. The last thing we are interested in doing is debasing a candidate who might be our next president and who in any case shares our basic beliefs about government.

But that's not the rules others play by here, and without admin./mod. intervention, the impression left is that they want it to happen.

There's a lot to like about our candidates. It's a deep bench with good people.

I'd love it if everyone on these boards played by that mutual respect. They could read JK Group posts if they wanted some pointers on how it was done!

21. Yep, everytime Senator Kerry does something outstanding
and gets some media attention. I actually anticipated it, it usually takes a day or so for them to come together and coordinate some attacks. Actually, I think the only people who obviously support others and don't bash or go after JK are the Hillary supporters.
