JK to be on Ed Schultz tomorrow--heads up!
I don't know which hour; Ed just announced it before his show was over. He's on 3-6 p.m. Eastern.

3. Fantastic!!! I might get to hear him then.
Do you realize it took me about a year to like big Ed? Now I don't like to miss him. Of course I love Randy Rhodes even more. And Al Franken is good too.

But please, who gave Jerry Springer his job? I have heard him say that drawing social security is comparable to drawing welfare. Doesn't he realize social security is your own money the government has taken from you?

4. Ed has good guests just about every day.
JK is getting to be a regular, as are a few other Senators. And he takes a lot of calls from ordinary people which makes for an interesting program. I like Franken second, also because of his guests.

Agree about Springer. :boring:

5. I got through to Ed the other day...
"would you like to speak to big Ed?"

"Sure" I stuttered.

"Ok, hang on," said the voice in my ear.

5 minutes later,

"What was your name?" the screener said.

"____" I said.

He asked another question, "Are you on a cell phone?"

"yes," I said.

"We can't take calls from cell phones." he said.

Then there was a click in my ear.

So...that's my story of talking to big Ed.

(04/25/2006) Big Eddy says the president is only 250 days behind Senate Democrats with effective energy proposals
Play Clip

President Bush, Georgie Come Lately, looked foolish as he lags 250 days behind Senate Democrats. Curious George acts as if he deserves a degree every time he discovers something new. Did the worst president ever just learn about corn and ethanol? Tim, a former conservative from Chicago, calls to say enough of Bush and the Republican Party, he is fed up! Tim says John Kerry should run again. Folks like Tim are why the GOP is in trouble come November.

On edit, the Kerry clip is up too now: http://audio.wegoted.com/podcasting/42506Kerry.mp3

26. question on ethanol
Do you East coasters and West Coasters have ethenol in your gas already, or is that just a Wisconsin/Midwestern thing? We have had 10% ethenol in ours for years. Just wondering. The reason given has always been that it reduces air pollution.

Text: Bush on Energy and Fuel Prices
By The Associated Press
Tue Apr 25, 1:01 PM ET

Here is the text of President Bush's remarks Tuesday on energy, as transcribed by CQ Transcriptions.

BUSH: Thank you all for coming. Now that you're here, please be seated. Thank you all.

Snip...

Ethanol has got the largest potential for immediate growth. Most people may not know this, but today most of ethanol produced in America today is from corn. Most vehicles can use 10 percent ethanol in their automobiles.

Snip...

The way I like to put it would be — it's a good thing when a president can sit there and say, gosh, we've got a lot of corn. And that means we're less dependent on foreign sources of oil.

Years back, they'd say, oh, gosh, we've got a lot of corn and worried about the price.

Snip...

And so, we're strongly committed to corn-based ethanol produced in America. Yet you've got to recognize there are limits to how much corn can be used for ethanol. I mean, after all, we got to eat some. And animals have got to eat.

And so, I am committed to furthering technological research to find other ways, other sources for ethanol.

Snip...

Last year I went out to see a biodiesel refinery in Virginia that's making clean-burning fuel from soybean oil. And it was a really interesting process to watch. I don't know if you know this or not, but they are able to use waste products like recycled cooking grease to manufacture biodiesel.

31. Ed has been banned from Phoenix aar
Big war between him and the people that brought aar back to life.
Nothing like having liberals fighting with each other - sigh.

I emailed Ed and Wendy and told them that I was in Phoenix, and I
am a huge fan. This is one time that I am glad I have Sirius, just for Big Eddie.

Funny - I can't remember that last time AAR interviewed Kerry. Even before the election!
Maybe Randi

34. Randi did in the last wave of interviews
after his op-ed. She is weird because there are times, like during this interview and when she played the 1971 speech where she is in awe of Kerry, then there are times when she is dismissive. She really seems 100% behind Fengold - which is fair - she agrees with him more. (Which makes sense as she is pretty extreme. It's sort of like the fact that if Kerry had everybody on DU and DKOS extrolling his virtues, it would likely mean he had done things that would make him unelectable.
The thing to consider is that there 60s counterparts whined that Kerry was too moderate and hurt the movement by holding it back from the extremes it was drifting to.)

33. This was great, as usual. The Bush bashing made my day!
The part where JK talked how they don't even know what is in the bills that are signed was great. And he said they didn't know because they didn't care. I'm paraphrasing, but I'd love to get the actual quote. Is there a transcript of the interview anywhere?

35. he was referring to getting tough with the oil companies
Said they don't pay any attention to that end of the question because they really aren't seriously going to do anything on that end of things.

Now, they want to give a tax rebate of $100 to everyone. Well, Ed Schultz pointed out that this won't be good in the long run, because we are actually robbing ourselves of money needed for things like roads, which will have to be made up later anyway. JK's support of taxing the oil companies (windfall profits) makes much more sense. Let THEM give some of that loot back, and don't ask us to "rob Peter to pay Paul"! And start holding them accountable to develop more efficient vehicles using alternative fuels. Get us away from oil dependency.

The Repubs just want to throw the people a bone (which we are going to have to pay for ourselves) because they don't believe in governmental control of business. They're afraid to offend Big Oil!
