WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. (Oh, the shame of it all.)

The wonderful and talented and brave young Captain who spoke at Faneuil Hall before Sen. Kerry is NOT a Massachusetts native. He lives near Buffalo, NY. (Dayum. Just dayum. I wanted him for possible future Mass Dem talent. Now he will be possible future NY Dem talent. Damn. Don't tell GV, she will accuse me of having, ahm, Democrat envy. Oh moan and wail. Dayum. I do not have Democrat envy. Sort of. Well, not yet. Damn.)

See this sterling article on the wonderful NY Captain. (Damn.)

2. NY or MA, he is incredible
He really does seem the best this country has. His trust in the Iraqis to pick their own leaders and to run programs is refreshing. So many of our leaders somehow want to spread democracy by selecting Iraqi leaders.

He may not be from MA, but I bet we'll be seeing him more (either for his own career) or as a powerful advocate for Kerry. (I loved his comment that his ranking officer said he wouldn't give him a bronze star because he was afraid he would throw it on the White House lawn. Given this description of what he did in Iraq, it's a back handed compliment to Kerry that his officer saw him as a young Kerry.)

4. Imagine what the Iraqis would think if they read about such stories
I love this guy. He's as good as it comes. He makes me proud to be an American.

5. He was an incredible speaker as well
It could not have been easy to speak on the same stage as Judy Droz Keyes (who was excellent) and Kerry - he really added to the day.

7. You guys can't have ALL of the good ones Tay Tay.
You really have to learn to share. :) (And trust me, the rest of the thinking world is TOTALLY envious of the good ones you do have!)

8. True, true IB.
But I thought he was from MA. There was a program given out that day, but us 'Press people' (LOL!) didn't get one. I think it had a brief bio on it that I might have read and learned from. Sigh! I, arrogantly, assumed that he was from MA. (Really, that is a bit arrogant. I repent it.)

Sigh! I agree, we should share. And he was awesome, no matter where he comes from, even NY. It is my understanding that upstate NY is 'red' and that a good Dem like the brave Captain would make a great addition to that State's political bench. Good for them. He is a 'catch.'

In fact now that I think about it we had Powers in our town, hmmm, in fact I went to school with a Powers, hmm wonder if there is any relation. What a great inspiration he is for many. We New Yorkers are quite fond of Mass Dems. ;-)
