Only 15 Yale seniors are asked to join Skull and Bones each year. Alumni include Sen. John Kerry, President William Howard Taft, numerous members of Congress, media leaders, Wall Street financiers, the scions of wealthy families and agents in the CIA.

Members swear an oath of secrecy about the group and its strange rituals, which are said to include an initiation rite in which would-be members kiss a skull.

Bush's grandfather gets mentioned as a possible grave robber though.

1. Wouldn't Kerry be covered under "numerous members of Congress"

But I guess he is more prominent than any other living member which is why he's listed. I am so sick of this. It's also something that is impossible to really address - as are most college things. Judging rom the description in Tour of Duty, many of the others that went in with Kerry are life long friends of his.

2. It is not possible to put this away.

People like believing that someone is in charge. They like believing that there are secret reasons for everything and that some one is making the world the weird place it is on purpose. There is nothing you can do to counter the morons who believe in this stuff. (In a twisted way, this is hopeful. It does posit a system in which at least a few people know what the hell is going on. The rest of us have to face up to the fact that their might be no one in charge. A lot of people prefer the delusion to the reality.)

I just had a relative try and convince me that the underground reptile people were in charge. Honest. You can see their tales sometimes. Sigh! Again, at least something sentient is in charge in that scenario, unlike in the reality.
