2. i don't think Hillary or Kerry running is a sure thing either |
|
i think both would like to run and if they had to make their decision now they may. but still, they will make their final decisions later, most likely after the 2006 elections.
the same thing happens with Al Gore, we hear rumors about how he is going to run, and others about how he wont run.
most of it is a waste of time that's why i try to avoid it.
the same thing happened in 2004 when they still kept saying HIllary may run to the day of the Iowa caucus and even after.

Why are people so obsessed with 08 since none of us know if the Dems are going to win this fall?

4. speculation about 2008 is always more "exciting" than off year elections |
|
Edited on Sun May-14-06 11:11 PM by JI7
people already don't discuss the issues that matter as much as they should be discussed. even in 2004 rather than report on the primary taking place, the media whores would rather speculate on whether Hillary will join the primary then.
the best is to try to ignore the 2008 threads as much as you can and focus on posting and contributing to threads that discuss the elections coming up this year.

The unfortunate thing is that people here just fall into the media trap and play along.

6. It's not media speculation, |
|
it's supporter manipulation. The poster is saying trust me (no link to any credible source). The interesting thing is the post is in GD, and the poster previously started a thread in GD-P promoting Gore/Obama.

7. actually, that poster is pretty fair |
|
he suppored Kerry before and said he would again, but just doesn't think he will be the nominee . i agree in many other cases it is supporter manipulation. but i know this poster's history and there is no manipulation there but rather just his own thoughts.

it still seems strange to me since no one has announce officially and Kerry is the one saying he's strongly thinking about it while a member of his staff is saying he's definitely not.
As questionable as Hillary's numbers seem to me, the top three candidates are Clinton, Kerry and Gore (or Edwards) in the polls. It's way too early and I doubt anyone of them is going to tip their hand.

9. i agree, but i think he is just telling what he heard |
|
people always say they know whether someone will run or not. i think the only ones who know for sure are those who wont go out and tell anyone until the candidate themselves announce. the rest is just guessing, rumor etc.

13. Not necessarily a member of his staff |
|
at least not based on the post - "someone who worked in the Kerry campaign" - and when were they working with it, and how did they leave?

15. I'm supicious about the "member of Kerry's staff" saying that |
|
he is "definately not running.
Assume for the moment that Kerry, for whatever reasons, has 100% made this decision and told the most trusted members of his staff. Kerry is publicly saying that he is thinking very hard about it (which taken literally could be either negative or positive - it's a huge choice). If he has dicided not to and is not telling, it is likely that he thinks he commands more attention as a possible candidate. I think the staffer would respect her/his boss enough to honor his choice to keep things uncertain.

19. Judging by what I've heard from Kerry in the last few months |
|
I think he's almost definitely running in '08. It's just to early to make any sort of official announcement. After the '06 midterms, he'll probably announce that he's forming an 'exploratory committee', as precursor to anything more definitive.

I am not in GDP much but when Ive been and seen LP he's come across as objective and fair minded. I don't have any sources but from what I see I think she will run but I could be wrong. I agree also that people's biases get them but I do think it will be interesting to see who runs in 2008. Hopefully we have a huge variety of candidates because diverse debate is great.

18. A former Kerry staffer - Who knows what his/her agenda is and |

whether the person is well informed or not!
Obviously, nobody knows what Kerry will do, but I dont know the poster's source knows either.
