Anyone see Jim Braude interview JK on NECN just now?
Really interesting interview, highly recommended.

Website here: http://www.boston.com/news/necn/Shows/news_night/

The video should be up soon.

They talked about everything - Iraq, gas prices, the floods, health care, Condi's honorary degree, and of course 2008. I loved His answers on 2008.

2. Did BC's very distinguished law school allumni approve of
Condi getting an honorary degree - I assume it won't help her become better at answering his grilling.

3. Nah, he wasn't too thrilled.
He went along with those who questioned rewarding her for championing an unjustified war that was also opposed by the church.

The interview is up now.

6. thanks, whome
What a great interview! If the load time is any indication, the interest in what JK has to say is pretty high :-)
I also loved his answers about '08. If you've been following his various answers to that particular question over the last months (and who hasn't around here ;-) ) it does seem as though they become more definitive as the time nears!

7. Great interview!
Loved his answer about '08, loved the beautiful smile he gave when he answered the last question about whether or not he watches "24". He seems sooooo relaxed now when he does interviews (local ones or national ones). This was a nice treat.

8. Loved it! My favorite answer:
about 2004 when he said he feels like he has "unfinished business."

YEAH!

That's exactly what it is - unfinished business.

He is saying lies a lot lately too. That is what I like most about him, he doesn't jump to a conclusion he makes sure the facts are with him.

It was one of those things someone says that just has the ring of total truth the second you hear it, and you just think, "YES!"

I was kind of amazed he hadn't said that before, actually. Braude conducted a hell of an interview. All the questions he asked were ones I wanted to hear the answer to.

9. At about 5 min in
Braude says "you have my vote". Did you hear him?
That's the thing. If every person in America would just LISTEN TO HIM, really listen, for five damn minutes...

OK, maybe ten. Is that too much to ask?

12. I heard him say that.
I thought it was in reaction to what they were talking about at that moment. My short term memory SUCKS - I don't remember what topic they were discussing when he said that. I guess I'll be forced to watch it again.

Happy to share. :-)

I love it when he's giving local interviews. I stumbled across this one totally by accident - I was looking for news on the BC commencement/Condi protest.

I had forgotten that today was the day he had his small business expo in Lawrence - they've been advertising it on the local AAR station for a few weeks. http://kerry.senate.gov/v3/corner/procurement52206_participant.html I loved the ads - the senator recorded them himself. Just hearing that voice on the radio every hour or so....:loveya:

21. Great interview
I love NECN, they do these 12 minute interviews, no 30 seconds and out things for them. They are a great TV station. Thanks for the link Whome!

Gee, did you happen to notice that the people who were being seated just sort of glanced over at Braude and Kerry and then just sort of kept on walking. Gee (MH1) seems to me they were saying, 'Oh yeah, that's John Kerry, we see him all the time.' (Honestly, they didn't even break stride. Oh yeah, him, well of course he's saying something interesting. That's Sen. Kerry. He's always that good. Did you see that MH?)

(I've been wondering what that smilie was for.)

btw - Braude is NOT from Mass, is he? The way he says "Kurry" and "wutter" I would swear he's from Merlind. (that's "Maryland" to youse guys ;-) ).

Doesn't say where he was born, though.

26. Gee, Braude came from the Bronx
Here's part of his bio: He started his career as a legal services lawyer in the South Bronx, and was the first president of the National Union of Legal Services. He was the executive director of TEAM (Tax Equity Alliance for Massachusetts), a tax reform group, from 1987 to 1996, and then served as a Cambridge City Councilor from 1999 to 2000. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and New York University’s Law School.

Good man. I remember his work on Tax Equity issues. Sigh!

BTW, I noticed the people walking by the interview and I really did thought it a bit odd. They glanced over and kept on walking. No straining the neck to see, no sort of walking slower so they could hear some of it. They just kept on walking. I thought that was funny/odd. Guess they figured that Kerry was working, so don't bother the man.

27. Hmmm.. U Penn...closer to Merlind than the Bronx...
I guess I never mentioned that I spent some formative years in Merlind myself. Hence my ears perking up when I heard certain familiar, um, slurring.

But my Mom went to Penn and grew up near Philly. So maybe it is actually an educated-Philly thing (it is not South Philly, that's for sure!); I could be hearkening back to that, more than the standard Merlindese.

I'm not great at dialects, but I was sure that wasn't a native Boston accent!

Anyway, I googled to see if I could find out where Braude was from, and failed, but saw some other neat things. It's not surprising Kerry has his vote - seems like they must be on the same page on a lot of things.

31. thankya, thankya thankya!
This was a lovely, catnippy interview. Wow. He is motivated by the 2004 election, not defeated! That's the highly competitive Kerry we've come to know. No throwing in any towels, no retreat, no surrender!

"I have unfinished business..." Sounds like something from a Clint Eastwood western.

I liked his answer about fixing the fencing that was already there--that makes perfect sense.

What browser do you use? I usually use Firefox, but just for NECN videos I keep a copy of Internet Explorer on my hard drive - the videos play perfectly in IE, as long as you have Windows Media Player (ack) installed.
