LOS ANGELES Calif., May 19, 2006 - The Pacific Council on International Policy is pleased to announce that John Kerry, Senator from Massachusetts, will address its members during a special lunchtime event June 1, 2006. During a time of heightened concern about U.S. foreign policy, Senator Kerry has been on the front lines of several issues, including U.S. action towards Iran's nuclear program as well as his call for the U.S. to withdraw all of its combat troops from Iraq by the end of this year.
John Kerry is currently serving his fourth term in the U.S. Senate and serves on the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Finance Committee, and the Committee on Foreign Relations, where his views are respected and influential. Kerry was the Democratic nominee for President of the U.S. in 2004.
"We are extremely honored to welcome Senator Kerry to Los Angeles," said Geoffrey Garrett, President of the Pacific Council. "Kerry's views on U.S. foreign policy in Iraq and elsewhere are very influential inside and outside Congress."
The meeting for Pacific Council members and invited guests will take place in Century City and will be chaired by former Secretary of State Warren Christopher, who is Co-Chair of the Pacific Council's Board of Directors.
The Pacific Council on International Policy is a non-partisan membership organization comprising globally-oriented business, civic and government leaders on the West Coast.
