List Kerry's accomplishments here - be THOROUGH
Investigated Iran Contra even while most Dem lawmakers were supporting Reagan/Bush's Contra policies.

For five years investigated BCCI even with most of DC trying to stop his pursuit of the corruption trail.

Advocated for public financing of campaigns and wrote the Clean Money, Clean Elections bill submitted to the senate in 1997. Several states have adapted that bill for their own state elections.

Submitted the first senate bill that extended protection specifically to gays.

Advocated for and testified to congress to allow gays to serve openly in the military.

Investigated and exposed illegal wars in Central America.

Investigated and exposed CIA drugrunning.

Wrote a book published in 1997, The New War, warning about the growing strength of global terrorism and its funding by international financiers involved with drugrunning, arms dealing and money laundering.

Wrote legislation to track the terror finance networks - years before 9-11.

Worked with other world leaders to help draft language for Kyoto Protocol.

4. One of the first Dems to sign on as co-sponser
of the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings deficit reduction measure when still a newcomer to the Senate in 1985. He shocked other liberals like Teddy and Chris Dodd--but they came around to his way of thinking in the end.

6. Learn something new every day
That dude Anglines sounds like he'll be a great governor. California and New York will be getting two great governors. I'd like to see Elliott Spitzer become president some day too. Hell if he considered running some day Tim Kaine too. I think I like Tim Kaine more than I do Warner.

8. He seems to be one of those investigative types
Elliott Spitzer in New York is like that too and I think he'd do a great job as governor of New York. Is it really hard for some people to actually support their party and their candidates. All some people like to do is whine that such and such isn't liberal enough yet paradoxically they sometimes support the one who actually is more conservative but just talks a good game. I'd rather have a candidate that does something for the good of the people than one who appeals to people's anger and hate.

9. Here are a few more...
In the Senate, John Kerry led the fight to put 100,000 more police officers on America's streets.

Kerry was one of the first Democrats to back the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings deficit reduction plan in the 1980s.

11. Some more
As a prosecutor, Kerry managed the reorganization and modernization of his office, starting new services and improving efficiency.

As the Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts he fought for environmental concerns and led an effort resulting in a resolution by the National Governors Association calling for cuts in sulfur dioxide emissions that were polluting waters in the Northeast, which later led to changes in the Federal Clean Air Act.

As a lawyer in private practice he worked to prove the innocence of a man wrongly given a life sentence for a murder he did not commit. He also represented a victim of a hair transplant procedure gone horribly wrong.

As a Senator he even demonstrated that same quick analysis of a life threatening situation and acted when he saved the life of a fellow Senator who was choking.

15. Overall, just being "Kerry"..."Integrity, integrity, integrity"
Too many accomplishments to mention. His every day dedication to the job...even in tough times (like right after his 'alleged' loss of '04 election). Even then, he didn't 'slouch,' but kept pushing new legislation like "childen's healthcare."

True servant of the people, and Diplomat.

16. People set a higher bar for Democrats, I think
Republicans are expected to be selfish and greedy, I guess. Because they don't believe in fairness for all--and most people understand this.

With Democrats, you make a list of accomplishments as long as your arm, and people come back with, "Yeah but what have you done today?"
