Oh I couldn't help chiming in -- Webbie/Miller-Hate-fest at dKos
I said I wouldn't say anything, but this diary just PISSED me off so much, I dove in, but did NOT mention Kerry at all.

Here's the diary:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/5/30/153534/060

Here's my comment (for which I am attacked on several fronts, including the snooty no doubt DC consultant type who wrote the diary), and it's not about Kerry, so I don't expect you guys to get involved. Maybe I just need a virtual hug from Fedup and JohnKleeb and anyone else sympathetic:

1. You got it
Jarding is the guy who with Mudcat Sanders helped run Warner's successful campaign, the two have a book out. They're not DC types but they are the consultants that the netroots seems to hate........except when they themselves are the consultants or the consultants support their candidates. I don't have an account there but did good. You know I am strongly opposed to outsourcing but maybe it's just me but I think Webb is a little wrong to call Miller the antichrist of outsourcing. Aside from the hyperbole of the statement coming from the man who was in the administration of Ronald Reagan who did more than anything to destroy unions influnece in American politics as president. I like Miller because he seems to understand the issues better even the ones that they say that Webb better gets because he was Navy Secretary. I haven't seen any polls yet for the primary.

2. Oh. Whoops -- I hadn't remembered that guy's name
I suppose I am now black balled until the end of time in Democratic Virginia politics!

For those interested, here is what he said to me:

Assumptions... (4+ / 0-)

Thanks for the note, but I do not assume anything. I just want to win. And I also know after 28 years in the business, that good horses win races and weak horses lose them. There are no ribbons to be gained here for second place. We need to pick the best horse and that horse clearly is Jim Webb.

Look, I love Mark Warner, but this guy is not very good at winning votes, is he? He says in there all he wants to do is "win". That makes sense to why he is working for a Republican like Webb!! Never mind a principle or two. God, I am naive. Later somebody asked me to say why I wanted Miller, and well, they actually liked my answer (at first it looked like it was coming from Jarding, but it was just his helper who got confused as to which logon he was using). And much later, there was a real live Miller supporter (probably somebody working for his campaign), so not bad.

4. I haven't seen any thing that proves that Webb is the better horse
That's whats been confusing me with this whole "Only Webb can beat Allen" "Miller will be destroyed by Allen if he runs" I understand they want to win, I do too of course but there's nothing I see about Webb that makes him a better candidate than Miller. I actually think Miller understands Virginians better and unlike Webb hasn't been trumpting out his non-Virginian endorsements. This whole race has been frustrating honestly.

3. Reco this diary instead - about Kerry's bill on the stolen vet data
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/5/30/18544/3557

It's probably too late to get it on the reco list but it would be nice to encourage the poster, I think. (Not one of us, I believe)

7. I wasn't on the computer last night, so it's too late to reply
Of course, I'm not in D.C. so their assumptions were wrong. I know about the outsourcing, but I was specifically talking about H1B visas, and in the late '90s there WAS a shortage of people with high level expertise in my husband's field, because the software was European, and wasn't as widespread in America as it is now. I think those people sounded provincial to me, like the one bitching about not finding a job in Austin -- well, MOVE, dipshit, to another state then. My mantra has always been that you go where the job is. My husband checked recently and there are a lot of jobs in his field; his only fear is the bigger picture of manufacturing plants (NOT Miller's area) going to China along with the info tech jobs that go with the factory. But there is no way you could outsource his job, because one has to physically be there. I guess what you're all hearing is my moderate credentials -- that I don't understand how government is going to stop globalization, but instead should think of innovative ways (like Kerry had with the tax breaks for bringing jobs back to America) to control the bleed and create new jobs here and educate the populace. Because Europe is not doing that great either with these changes, and they're a lot more regulatory and socialist than we are. So those old ways of thinking are NOT the solution. JMO (I realize many here will disagree with me).

8. They're narrow minded folk
You know I oppose outsourcing but the extreme anti globalization crowd startles me. As much as I wish America would be like it was in the 50's producing our own goods and such we have to accept the inevitable and I think if done right globalization can produce more good than harm. Got some good news though I was at my grandmother's today and we talked politics as we always do and she's going to be voting for Miller, I thikn what convinced her was knowing that Miller's backed by a lot of our local state senators and understands policy better than Webb. I brought up my uneasyness though with Kos and the outsiders too though. Wait there was a guy there bitching about not being able to find a job in Austin- Austin, Texas god I wish these outsiders would pay attention to their own races. They have Governor Perry up for reelection there. I wish people would pay attention to their state and local races first than other ones. I guess that's a litlte narrow minded but I don't like people from out of state telling me what to do in regards to state and local elections,
