I have got to post a positive moment

My birthday was this weekend. We had a barbeque to celebrate. It was a mixed crowd of Dems and Repugs, and my freeper family. My wingnut Aunt was talking about the war, which she thinks is no "big deal," and gas prices. She was immediately attacked and Bush was completely evicerated by the Republicans! I kid you not. At one point she said, "who is to blame for this and the Republicans answered as one "Bush"! It was a thing of beauty. We ARE going to win in November

1. It is nice to know Republicans have figured out who is to blame
for this awful war. And, I hope you are correct about the elections this year.

3. Not only have they seen the light, Repugs are the largest donors to my
DH State Senate Campaign in a repug District! These are the same people who were arguing with us in 2000 and 2004. They thought Bush walked on water. Many will cross over this time!

4. What are you learning?
What are you learning about political messages, etc., that could be useful to other people in their areas. Is your husband changing any of his strategies based on what these folks are saying, rethought anything, misunderstandings made clear, that sort of thing.

5. Yes. Accountability , Common Sense and Integrity is our mantra!
This lack of trust thing is big, as is the economy, and PRIVACY. Here in AZX immigration is also big, but dangerous. It is best not to engage in that debate. The best thing seems to be to play up the betrayal. This is particularly pertinent localy as we have an awful Repug legislature and A popular Dem Governor .The Leg. is being held to accound and DH is running against a rabid RW!

8. yes, I agree. Betrayal from not just Bush but from all the R's in office
Because without those, then Bush wouldn't have been able to do what he's done. They have not controlled him or held him accountable. They're guilty by association.

13. Sounds like solid American values and
good old common sense (horse sense) to me. Very good news. I didn't realize your husband was running for office, is that correct? If so, three standing cheers!

11. Another thing we are promoting are "family values"
because we know that the Democratic Party has always espoused the fundamental human dignity that is the true "family value" !:)

6. Better late than never I guess
It started with Katrina--peoples' losing trust in this administration. And everything that happened after just continued the erosion. The more * talks, the deeper he digs himself down. If only this could have happened earlier. Sigh.

7. But this concerns me...they say, "Bush"
but they have to say, "Bush and the Republican party who is supporting him. We need a whole new Republican party."

See what I mean?

9. Hey, they are contributing MONEY to Democrats and
publicly supporting them. That is good enough for me! I think they want to teach their party a lesson but they still want it to be sucessful someday. Just like we don't blame all Dems for the actions of those we don't like. These are still Republicans and someday , they want their party back.

14. that's great. The donations definately show that its against all
theiving republicans. Sorry I missed that before.

And actually, it's important that they may call themselves Republicans but the 'new' Republican party will have to evolve after this mess that's taken over for 10 years. I think it can only help.

I know a friend of mine who calls herself Republican wants a split.

More the better! We have greens, dcc, dlc, and who knows who else. I think the more 'partys' the better off our country would be.

12. This is great news! Thanks!
There was a recent article about the Democrats lining up in SC. Yesterday I read a former state GOP chair switched parties in Kentucky! Very positive signs!

15. maybe I'm a worry-wart, but I don't trust those cross-over dems
to actually vote like the values the Democratic Party holds. What if they say their Dems and vote like Leiberman or Frist? It's hard to trust what they say or do.

17. Frist ADA lifetime rating versus Lieberman lifetime ADA rating
ADA is a liberal lobbying group. They rate voting records based on votes on liberal issues

http://www.adaction.org/index.htm

Senate Voting Records, Lifetime

http://www.adaction.org/sen.htm

Frist Lifetime Average - 3
Lieberman Lifetime Average - 76

For comparison, Kennedy Lifetime Average - 90

Yes, Lieberman is annoying, but he is no Bill Frist
------------------------------------------------------------
how they rank:

http://www.adaction.org/news.htm

<snip>

Each year, ADA's Legislative Committee selects 20 votes it considers the most important during that session. ADA's National Board and/or National Executive Committee approves those votes. Each member recieves 5 points if he/she voted with ADA, and does not receive 5 points if he/she voted against us or was absent. The total possible is 100.
