I'm a Deanaic and I'm OK! |
|
Lots of Anti-Deaniac, yet pro-Dean threads here in this group. Yet I'm still more comfortable posting in the JK Group than on the DFA home blog. I like the DFA homepage because I like to hear about Howard Dean, read his weekly column, and see if there's any e-mailing activism I can help him with. But the blog...feh!
If you are a Kerrycrat/Deanaic like me don't read the blogs unless you are itching for punishment. Lots of Kerrybashing. People come on there claiming to be Deanaics and then try to convince you to become Green Party by bashing the Democratic party. How can you call yourself a Deanaic if your guy is running to be the head of the party you keep dissing? (Yes, there are those who are even more liberal than thou who say Dean sold out cos he's running for chair. Oh, puke!)
To me he will be "Saint Howard," (to me this is not derogatory at all) if only for the legalization of civil unions in Vermont based on his own "religious philosophy" (as he calls it). He seems to be a good man all around, though. Great record as a governor, as well as a medical doctor.
Anyway, for me, being a Deanaic means valuing the things that Dean values. One the things the good doctor values is the Democratic party as a source for the betterment of democracy. He was tough during the primaries, but even then he vowed to support any Dem who got the nomination. As soon as Kerry was nominated, he worked like hell to campaign for the senator. Dean praised Kerry as an "internationalist," someone who could talk with foreign leaders instead of rushing into war. It does not surprise me at all that Dean and Kerry are working together.
Yes, it is possible to love Dean and Kerry at the same time. After all they get along just find.

He was my first choice and I support him for DNC (Please let him get it). I just don't like the Kerrybashing. It's unproductive.

You are totally welcome, as are any progressive supporters who do not come to bash, but share ideas. I like Dean and Clark myself, and support most Dem candidates. I'm a huge Kerry fan, and am glad to talk to anyone who just likes to talk politics in a civil manner, regardless of who their favorites are.
Welcome!
Edited to add: And I love Kucinich, for his strong animal rights record, which means a lot to me, being an avid animal lover. He is one of the best there is on this matter. I wish more politicians took more time to address concerns regarding our animal friends.

2. It's the "more liberal than thou" people we can't stand |
|
And who, as you noted, seem to rule the DFA forum and the official Dean blog. Which is why you see the negative sentiments around here. It's nothing to do with the man or sane Deaniacs such as yourself. You are most welcome here.

Remember I'm a Kerrycrat, too, as well as a Kucitizen and a Gorista, etc., etc. I post a lot on this board because you are all good readers.

6. The best thing about Dean is he loves being a Democrat |
|
What upsets me the most with Deaniacs is that some of them can constantly bash the party and it's leaders. But if they took Deans lead they would realize that you could do a lot more by working within this party and supporting our leaders even if they aren't 100%+++ liberal approved. Everytime I've seen him speak in person though Dean is electrifying so I do understand his appeal.
Thanks for sharing your story.

Dean is a very enthusiastic Dem who wants the party to win. These purist fuckers just wear their Che shirts and want to be "revolutionary." Whatever.

I voted for Dean in the primaries myself (I think...good lord, is that horrible? I don't actually know anymore!), but fell in love with Kerry when I saw Going Upriver.

I'm unemployed. Will work for the DNC! The good thing about being a yellow dog Dem is that the love goes around to all good Dems. I'm in love with Dean, Kerry, Kucinich, Hillary Clinton, Boxer esp., but any good Dem living or dead, is a member of my family.

I don't have a problem with Dean supporters like you because you don't see things in black and white, and look at the bigger picture. I would be fine with Dean as DNC chair.

|
What people like myself have a problem with supporter like the one that came here last night and was rude as hell. Most everyone I have seen like the other candidates they may disagree with something they have said or done but they like them.

21. ahh long story short, it was a Clark person I think |
|
Didn't take to kindly to me not feeling easy on Kosovo, 'scuse me if I dare to have reluctance on that whole conflict being that the Balkans are the ancestral homeland of my mom's dad. It got a bit ugly, sigh, and I wasnt even criticizing Clark, I just said simply and god this better not draw them in here that I don't feel easy about him, no offense to anyone, thats just my philosophy, I am a yellow dog, I would have worked for Clark if he were the nominee, I like Kerry infintely better of coures tho.

28. I move back and forth on Howard |
|
He did good things in Vermont, but he didn't do them all by himself. I suspect he knows that, but he blasts the "insiders" for doing nothing when the truth is no state can build a health plan without federal help. Or do much else without federal help. I hate the way he does that. He was also totally DLC on economics in Vermont, he was part of the problem he says he wants to fix. He's never explained that. He seems to use the anger of the left to his advantage, but I'm not sure he even believes what he says based on his record. And he says alot of silly things because he doesn't seem to quite know how far left is too far left. I suspect he's actually a level-headed guy, but when he goes into candidate mode, blech, I can't stand him. And I suspect all this wishy-washiness is the problem with the Clintons, much more than any supposed "liberalness", because every Democrat knows he's not a far left liberal. I'll just be glad when this is over. I'll be fine with Dean if he wins. He's a damned site better than the rest of the candidates.
Add the Deanmania to that, and I just try to stay away.
The other day, somebody named folks like you Derryiacs. I thought it was cute.
