From Raw Story, Democratic senators prepare floor speeches on Condoleezza Rice: By John Byrne | RAW STORY Editor
Senate Democrats are readying sharp attacks on the nomination of Condoleezza Rice, and while their press offices are loath to give away the gems of their speeches on the Senate floor, the sense from offices around the Hill is that Rice will face an array of withering policy attacks.
Each of the issues they expect to surface in the Senate Tuesday have been recurring themes in Democratic criticisms of the Bush Administration: a troubled policy on Iraq, the use of torture in interrogations and the use of preemptive attacks in foreign policy.
<snip>
The current speaking list includes: Senator Byrd, 1 hour; Senator Boxer, 1 hour; Senator Reed, 30 minutes; Senator Durbin, 30 minutes; Senator Kerry, 20 minutes; Senator Levin, 15 minutes; Senator Kennedy, 15 minutes; Senator Lieberman, 10 minutes; Senator Corzine, 10 minutes; Senator Salazar, 10 minutes; Senator Feinstein, 10 minutes; and Senator Biden, 20 minutes (from the time of Senator Lugar).

"Withering policy attacks" - I like the sound of that.

it says the list "includes" these people. There may be others as well.

An hour each of Byrd and Boxer? Ooooooooh, that's gonna hurt!
(I am a good liberal; I feel momentarily guilty for that burst of gleeful sadism. Then I think about Abu Ghraib and the guilt vanishes fast.)
Kerry's supercondensed 20 minutes should be AMAZING.
Oh, sweet, and half an hour of Durbin--so both my Senators will have taken shots. I love Durby - he seems like such your sweet jovial uncle you don't even notice that you're bleeding until he's gone. :thumbsup:

9. Boxer is giving Kerry some of her time |
|
As are a couple of other Senators. I think JK will be talking more around 40-45 minutes. He is the Foreign policy master and has the prestige and knowledge to really make a nice attack.
