Scott Howell - enemy of the people
http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/7875.html

* Scott Howell has made some highly noteworthy campaign ads lately. In 2004, he helped orchestrate the Swiftboat smear against Kerry. In 2005, he created TV ads against Tim Kaine in Virginia, claiming the candidate was soft on Hitler because Kaine opposes the death penalty. Now, Howell has two new clients: Sens. George Allen of Virginia and Jim Talent of Missouri, both of whom are facing tough re-election fights this year. Let the smearing begin….

1. Taylor Marsh has a great post on this jerk as well
http://www.taylormarsh.com/archives_view.php?id=24225

Scott Howell doesn't do "upbeat." What Howell does is smear decorated veterans, especially if they're Democrats. A local paper said just that not too long ago.

George Allen has, yet again, shown his true colors. Racist, anti veteran, ready to smear anyone to win, with absolutely no spine or character whatsoever. We need to remember this when Mr. Allen runs for president, which he will if he wins back his Senate seat.

If you know people in Virginia, let them know what's going on with Allen and just as important, tell them about James Webb.

BTW, she says this too:

As regular readers know, I've been very tough on The New Republic for their coverage lately, but Ryan Lizza, not exactly my favorite journalist, did a remarkable piece on Allen that I highly recommend. It's one of the reasons I still subscribe to that magazine. Lizza lays Allen out flat. Here's just one paragraph. The whole article is a bombshell portrait of a man who is not fit for the Senate.

2. DSCC: Dems Call on Allen to Fire “Hitler Ad” Consultant
More on Howell here, including his ads: http://www.dscc.org/news/roundup/20060707_hitlerad/

Democrats said Allen’s claims about wanting to run a positive campaign despite hiring the “Hitler ad” consultant, Scott Howell, are bunk. “If Allen really wants to run a ‘positive’ campaign he should dump this consultant and promise not to attack the patriotism or the military service of Jim Webb in this campaign.”

Scott Howell, the man tasked with producing television ads for Allen’s re-election campaign is best known to Virginians as the media consultant for Jerry Kilgore’s run for Governor in 2005. During that campaign Howell produced an advertisement accusing Kilgore’s opponent of opposing the death penalty for Adolf Hitler.

Howell’s other clients include the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, who ran ads in 2004 attacking John Kerry’s military record, and Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss who ran ads accusing Vietnam veteran Max Cleland of coddling villains like Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. (Washington Times, 7/7/06)

5. They took a Tim Kaine interview out of contest and inferred that
since Kaine opposed the death penalty, he wouldn't have put Hitler to death. How stupid was that? Anyway, it backfired -- every newspaper in Virginia condemned the ads as crossing the line. Kaine won a week later.

thanks -- whometense. I read that TNR article -- damning stuff in there.

4. Thanks for bringing this up.
I just finished up a http://welovejohnkerry.com entry on The Patriot Project (http://www.patriotproject.com/), and although they've been blogging about some serious lunacy, I haven't seen them mention Howell much over there.

8. all RIGHT!
Thanks for the link. That's great. May they continue to pile on until Allen says uncle. Not that that will happen in this lifetime, but a girl can hope...
