Oh, to be on that plane to New Orleans this morning
I don't know anything about this source, but thought this was an interesting blog post about JK, Obama and Landrieu running into each other at the airport:

1. Nice to hear from you
How have you been? Good to hear from you.

I love that piece you found. Wow and I thought my state obsessed over our US Sens. Apparently Illinois has full-time reporters who go everywhere with Sen. Obama. Geez, that's a rock star!

Thanks! :patriot:

17. Good to be here on this stormy day.
And thanks for the photos below, Rox. Sounds like JK will be covering a lot of ground this weekend.

18. A few of us were interviewed by some reporter at the TBA
who said he 'covered' Obama for the AP. I don't think he ever wrote about his interview with us. We weren't anti-Barak, mind you. I think he was just expecting a lot of Obama love at the conference, and wasn't finding what he had hoped. He kept pushing Obama, we kept pushing back with Kerry.
Wonder if this is the same dude or if there are more like him?

2. This is stupid. Obama and Kerry are going to the same event in NO
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 10:00 AM by Mass
a small business table. It was all over the news yesterday. They did not meet by chance.

Interesting however that it is Obama's first visit.

4. The perspective was different
The reporter on this is assigned to shadow Sen. Obama full-time. (Cuz Obama is a rock star!) The perspective on this was Mr. Obama goes to New Orleans (Rock star!) Along the way, Mr. Obama has interesting adventures and meets people like John Kerry. Wow, how does John Kerry react to the Rock Star! (I understand this coverage. We have it here on certain occasions.)

It's not about Kerry, it's about how the world reacts to 'our rockstar!' I get that and it's harmless.

8. Well, to be fair,
it is from the Chicago Tribune, so it's not a surprise that it's Obama-centric. ;-)

On Sunday, Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry will attend a precinct captain and volunteer rally in Madison Heights with Granholm, and also will campaign for her at a Detroit church.

7. and happy that Kerry was on row 1. at least, he had space for his legs.
Coach is already terribly uncomfortable for my 5'2", I cant imagine what it is for his 6'4".

9. I remember reading somewhere
that he always asks for the bulkhead seat, so he can fit his legs in.

I'm not much taller than you, and I find coach seats really uncomfortable too. (More for the sense of claustrophobia than the leg room, to be honest.)

16. I kind of hope he sat next to a Republican
who got the chance to see just how nice and down-to-earth JK is. Might make him/her think twice before making another mistake at the ballot box.

and then wound up taking in a Red Sox game with him as a result..... Why don't things like that ever happen to me????

22. If you fly enough, and there are empty seats
you can often get bumped to first for free. Some of us hard working business travelers are there because our jobs require us to live out of a suitcase much of the time.
I take the upgrade if it's available and free. I'll bet these guys don't, though, just to avoid being called on it.

Those are great!!!!!

Just for contrast, check out what the rude pundit wrote about Shrub's NAACP speech yesterday. George Bush Comes Down To the Quarters.

I hate when that happens.

21. I didn't even recognize her until I read the caption.
So, Obama, Landrieau and Kerry were all in the same meeting - that reporter really really missed the story there. I doubt they were shocked to see each other waiting for what was possibly the flight leaving at the best time to make the meeting comfortably.

23. Nice Pics!
Anybody on the street would know that was John Kerry. I noticed that in Boston, his hair really reflects the light. (He's easy to pick out in a crowd on account of being so tall and having that halo of hair.)

Have the remarks from this speech or a video that shows what kind of reception the Senator got in NOLA been released? It would be interesting to compare and contrast the reaction Bush got to the reaction Kerry got.

BTW, te DLC is having their convention this weekend. Sens. Clinton and Bayh, and Govs Warner and Vilsack are speaking. Notice who is not speaking at the DLC, but who did in 2003? I think that corner has been turned for good.

This says he and Obama were there separately and Landrieu was shuttling back and forth.

26. The SBA is stifling progress?
Now that's a little weird. Why would Obama make his first trip to New Orleans when Senator Kerry is there talking about the SBA to the Black Chamber of Commerce, and then make a snarky comment about the SBA??

Does the Senator have a personal team to tail him and make sure he doesn't get too much of the limelight anywhere in the country??

"He (Obama) said there's a strong desire among residents to rebuild, but response organizations like the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Small Business Administration are stifling progress."

27. Ahm, The SBA was blocking progress
Go back and see that hearing from last Nov in the Small Business Committee. Ahm, Sen. Kerry took Hector Barreto to task for not doing anything to help small businesses in the Gulf area. (A gem of a hearing, btw. That's how Senators should act when they believe that someone is stone-walling them.)

Sen. Obama is backing Kerry up in this.

I had only seen bits and pieces on programs proposed or passed, not the complaints about the SBA still dragging their feet.
