1. Kerry and Feingold voted against him in committee
and voted against cloture (for filibuster). This is the only cloture vote I see in the Thomas roll call when I search on "Bolton" in the first session of the 109th Congress.

Note that Voinivich who voted against him in committee voted for cloture. There were 42 nos and only 56 yeas - the yeas are what count they need 60. (So not voting counts the same as a no - the not voting were Specter and Inohe. At least Inohe was likely a real no) They needed to pick up 4 more votes to win.

4. check TayTay's post - there was another vote in June,2005
where Kerry, Feingold etc did not vote as the poster said - but as TayTay said - it did not affect the outcome - as not voting and No count the same way.

3. There have been several votes on Bolton

under this President. Sen. Kerry voted against getting his first nomination out of committee in 2001, when Bolton was nominated for Undersecretary of Defense for Arms Negotiation. Then Kerry voted against him in committee:

********************

The best Kerry V. Bolton thing in the record is one from way back in 1989. Bolton was nominated by Bush's father for Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs. Kerry voted to report the nomination out of the Foreign Relations Committee then proceeded to blister Bolton the bastard on the floor of the Senate and insert into the Congressional Record all the bad stuff that Bolton had done, while at the Justice Department under Ed Meese, to torpedo the Iran-Contra investigation. It is quite the speech. (Kerry can utterly blister someone when he is so inclined.) You can go see this one by accessing info on the 101st Congress in the search for the Congressional Record: http://thomas.loc.gov/home/r109query.html Choosing Kerry as the Senator, entering Bolton as the search term and then selecting May 4th, 1989 as the date. Scroll down and read. It's a real beaut.

There are no recorded votes on the '89 nomination for Bolton in the CG.

6. Jeez, Bolton is like the Christmas fruitcake, isn't he?
Keeps making the rounds year after year, and nobody wants him.
