I took about sixty shots. These were the only three worthy of posting.

3. These are all good, Raging. |

I like the first one best because of the cropping and the feeling of a bit of motion. But I also really like the third one for the clarity of the fireworks. I'll have to try the whole fireworks challenge next July 4th, I guess. :)

How has your new camera been treating you? Are you using photoshop?

Your fireworks turned out much better than mine (yes, I was shooting fireworks, too, on New Year's Eve) although I haven't processed them much yet and they might look better after that. I think I was too close to ours because there was a lot of smoke. Did you have some kind of filter on to get the little starburst effects around the lights under the fireworks?

I didn't use any filters and I also got a lot of smoke towards the end. I find I get the best colors when I underexpose the camera by a single stop. Otherwise, the colors become too white.

Damn.... I got all confused like with the Flowers shot. Now you're really messing with my head. Isn't that a July thing?
Dude.... you have this night photography stuff nailed.
Oh, and I was hardly partying on New Years. Would have rather been out snappin'.... but I have this thing about not being on the road on New Years. Ya' see.. people drink excessively... drive cars....

and well you didn't have to freeze to get them. I am like F. Gordon in that I stay in on New Year's Eve. No cab services or buses in my area so I know the roads aren't safe. I would of been tempted if I were in Miami or anywhere south of Florida. I like seeing the smoke with the fireworks too, makes you feel like you are there.
