Colorado Photographers -- let's go on a photo hike!
Hi all,

With the unseasonably warm weather and little snow or ice, I think we should plan a photo hike/walk. I live in a wonderful area and would be glad to host. I'm in Gold Hill, Colorado, which is about 30 minutes NW of Boulder in the Front Range. It's at about 8500 feet and the views are amazing. Gold Hill itself has a lot of photo opportunities as well, as it is an original mining town from 1859, and many of the buildings are still standing.

More about Gold Hill at Wikipedia:

Send me a PM if you are interested! Thanks!

1. Have to wait until June for me to join you.
Leaving Thursday to return to Mississippi for 5 months. But I'd go in June, for sure. :hi:

3. Maybe we should work on getting EVERYONE here
... to think about meeting up in the summer. With Southwest now using this as a hub it would be a cheap flight for most. But, maybe not. The scenery here sucks.

I thought you were gone already?

Take care of yourself.

4. Good luck!
You're definitely invited up anytime you want, INF. Let us know how you are doing in MS and how things are going there.

2. How'd you end up there?

Count me in. My only problem at the moment is "wheels". The F'Mobile is in the shop and probably won't be done till early next week. But after that..... good to snap. I'm looking at a map and trying to figure how the hell to get there. Looks like it would actually be easier for me to come in from the west. Up through Nederland. Avoid the congestion in Boulder.

For me. Would have to be by first week of February. After that I get sucked into a major "earn a living" vortex. Edited to remove comment about intheflow... see her up thread. Not sure who else would be up for it, but definitely mark me down.

I didn't realize that there were so many old mines where you live. The little "mining symbols"....

5. Yes, lots of old mines and great scenic views too.
I found this place on denver.craigslist.org, believe it or not. I am living in an 'artist community' house, which actually has four apartments and the main living quarters of the owners on 3 acres. My apartment is the only one on the top floor, and is 1100 square feet, with lofts and lots of windows. You can see the lights of Denver from my apartment at night.

If you want to avoid Boulder, you can go on the Peak-to-Peak highway from Nederland to Gold Hill Road. And I'm available any weekend, and can take off a day during the week if given enough notice. So just let me know what your schedule is like, and we can make plans to have a gold mine photography hunt!

And I think it would be great to have a DU Photography Group meetup here in June. Let's start planning! There is even the Gold Hill Inn that people can stay at, if they don't want to bunk at my place.
