I love Ms F dearly......
She is 100 times the artist that I am and being such.... she is very subjective. What do I do? I make the horrible mistake of asking.... “do you want to see what I’m going to enter in the Macro/Close Up/Bug Ass/Fish Butt contest?” I show her. She looks ... and responds.. “that’s ...ummm... decent. Do you have anything else?”
:-( :banghead:

Now I’m befuddled.
:dilemma:

Here are a couple that Ms F liked and the one I was going to enter (not going to say which one). The first two have been giving me nightmares. And no Blue'... that's not a dirty sensor spot. It's that friggin' styro stuff that seems to get all over everything.

Do any of these yank your chain? Please be honest. Thanks for looking.
:hi:

Sorry.. I didn't provide the techno-poop and setup info on these. If you're curious.. just ask. Other than the one obvious exception these are all pretty much "in camera" snaps so if you have a "post processing" suggestion please..... suggest away. I'm all ears....err. eyes.

1. I like number 3...
...just because I'm a nature person.

3. I would have to go with
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 10:38 PM by CC
3 with 4 as a very close second. After you decide let us know which Mrs. F liked.

I almost did a please pick my entry thread, then got the Mojo shot and put it up fast so I wouldn't make my brain hurt trying to decide. Might show the almost sometime.

5. I was all set to go... so no "brain freeze"
Hope you post a few almost's considering how nice Mojo is. I'm so far behind on snaps I've promised to post I won't be upset if you don't.

6. I had that coming
And number 5 is a little "chewy"

I get in these juvenile smart ass moods once in awhile. I'll try to act mature for the next day or two.

7. 3 and 4 are simply amazing!
I can't quite tell what that thing in 1 and 2 is, but it looks like snow? or frost?

and what the heck is #5?? It has a cool look/texture... but I just cant figure it out.

8. Thank you

Setup for 1 & 2 is pieces of colored plastic strips stuck in a chunk of styrofoam. The title I came up with for #5 is Al Dente Sunrise.... that'll give ya a little clue.:)

9. I like #3 but...
I'd experiment with cropping off the right side. It's a bit out of focus and doesn't (IMHO) contribute to the composition. The larger, better focussed flower (Is that what they are?) on the left stands well on its own, and its geometric pattern becomes more prominent that way. If you could have backed off just enough to get both flowers completely in the shot, then the contrast in their sizes might have made an interesting study; might also have enabled getting both in focus too.

12. Thanks for the input. Really appreciate it

My "problem" was that I spent so much time working on different lighting setups that I never got around to actually composing a "good" macro snap. "The King of Stupid" (Me!!) finally figured out what I was doing wrong with the Macro-DOF.

I setup this snap again last night. Using aperture priority this time I went all the way up to f/22 (max for the lens) The camera picked a 30 second exposure (max for my camera) and was also telling me that my snap would be underexposed so I had to go even further and crank the exposure compensation.

Even so.... if you take a peek at the next tribble in line it is still soft.

And on edit: I didn't want to back off this snap.. actually I couldn't because I would have to move the lights and my snap would be waaaay underexposed.

10. #2 and #4 are my faves
I would like #3 better if the DoF was deeper.
#5 is good too.
But nice shots!

13. Thanks
See post #12 regarding snap #3.

Ms F really liked #5.... don't ask me why. I liked it as well. Tough part was figurin' out how to keep the light from bleeding around the outside.

11. Numero dos
I liked number 2 a lot. Funny that I didn't really care for number 1.

Sometimes removing the color makes a lot of difference in seeing the tones.

14. Number 1 is kinda boring
I'm going to re-do #2 and work on it more.... cause that was one that I liked the "idea"... just never got it to where I was happy.

Thanks
:hi:
