1. Very nice, almost looks like

an etching with the black of the trees against all that white. With our winter I might get lucky enough to forget what snow is.

Snow is rare so I always take the opportunity to snap a few pictures.

The snow was still coming down and that added to the effect. I did very little Photoshop work, just resizing, slight adjustment of levels, and unsharp mask.

3. Did you shoot it in black and white?

Sometimes here it LOOKS like black and white even when you shoot in color.

4. No, I shot it in color then de-saturated.

I found I was getting some color artifacts due to the back lighting. The De-saturate tool took care of that. There wasn't enough color in the image to keep it color anyway.

Digital cameras have trouble with bright back lit subjects. They get a blue tinge.
