Boids of Mississippi
Is it a heron or an egret or a crane? I dunno, too far away for me to make a positive I.D.

It wasn't until after I took this shot that I realized it was two different pair of birds flying in what seemed to be a mini-flock. But there are two pelicans and two herons. As a bonus, also noticed only after I downloaded the photo onto my laptop, there's a loon floating in the water.

I'm pretty sure this is some kind of heron. I don't know why I like this shot so much, but it's my current desktop.

Here's another example of how boids of a feather don't always flock together. So we've got a pelican and a heron, but what the heck is that little white boid?

A real, live blueboid of happiness! (Although in truth, this boid was not happy I was playing paparazzi with it.)

Roosting egrets!

I'm not sure what kind of boid this is, but it's got to be one of the coolest photos I've ever taken!

Great blue heron, I think.

I think it's just a Seagull. Terrible little monsters.

Wow. I mean, WOW. Nice shot.

3. Someone in the birders' group thought the small white bird was
a snowy egret. And they said the first shot was a heron. But on that, I tend to agree with you, I think the first shot is an egret, too, based on nothing but sheer intuition. :) They thought the last shot might be a warbler, but also thought it was a cool shot. I got the stop action by cheating and using the "action" setting on my camera. A million photos and only one I could use!

6. All these pics are
great. Love the last one but I also love the 3rd one so can see why it is your desktop right now. Love the balance and geometry in it.

7. I made usedtobesick go back to the car
to get the telephoto lens for that shot. I could see it was going to be a great picture, but my regular lens made it look like the bird was just an extension of the pole. :)
