WooHoo got the new camera today.
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 05:52 PM by CC
My D200 arrived today. Only had a chance to take a couple of test shots, but thinking I am going to love this camera. I do have to a learning curve on it, more so than I thought I would. :) Figured that out when I had to figure out how to open the door to get the flash card in. Downside, its going to force to me break down and upgrade to CS2 so I can skip the DNG converter.

Here are a couple test shots with what models were available with in the first few minutes of opening the camera up.

Peachy

Butterball (who is getting his eyes cleaned now.)

Now to learn this camera so it is second nature and get the D100 change into an Infrared only camera.

3. More test shots.
I'm liking this camera a lot and the learning curve isn't going to be as steep as I thought it might be.

Harley

Columbines have bloomed.

Had to try it some infrared shots before the sun was gone.

7. Thank you, he is smart
but rarely likes to be photographed, he would rather I was scratching the back of his neck instead of holding that "thing". He's a great talker as long as you aren't in the room with him. It took years before we could pet him and he still would rather be in his cage than out. He was a rescue and had a rough first year and a half of life from what I was told.

5. I just got the body since
I already have lens. So far the lens collection is:
Nikkor 28-85 mm (First two pics were taken with this one)
Nikkor 50mm f/1.4
Nikkor 70-300mm
Tamron 28-105mm (Last 3 pics were taken with this one since I have the IFR filter for it)
Tamron 28-300mm
Tamron 17-50mm Wide angle

I have been looking at the DX lens but I will have to start saving for a long while for any of them. Or win a lottery.

10. Congrats on the new camera!
Looking forward to the pics.
Please share any Tips & Tricks you discover.

You may want to look at the new Nikon Capture software.
It comes bundled with an application that lets you operate the camera from a computer terminal via USB.
Great for studio applications.
You can adjust all settings from the computer terminal, and the pic is displayed on the computer screen.

The Nikon RAW editor is a little top heavy, but better than most I have tried.

One of the few complaints I have with the D200 is that this software was not included with the camera.

Happy Snappin!
:hi:

11. Congratulations!
My amateur trigger finger acquired a new Nikon D70 last night. It's my first digital SLR, and with my budget, the fact I don't expect to make money off the hobby, and my penchant for fast lenses, it was the most I could justify affording.

I'm nevertheless thrilled with the purchase, so I can only imagine how you must feel.

What did you use before the upgrade?

12. You are going to love that

D70 and it is a great camera. That is what I upgraded from and I am not getting rid of it. It will be a good back up camera just in case. And might save changing lenses to much. The dust on the ccd is a problem no matter what brand digital camera you have. Plus the D70 has the much cheaper remote control (about$15.00) that is great for IF shots using the filters. I did really try to make myself wait to get the D200 but the more I read both in reviews and from those that have one here I finally gave in.
Edited to add- Except for the pics in this thread about all my pics posted here or on the smugmug site are with the D70.
