****MAY CONTEST THEME: "SOMETHING OLD"****
Well, that was suspenseful.:) Looks like "Something Old" is an idea whose time has come!

Submissions thread will be started on or about May 15.

Now go, and may the force be with you all!

:smoke:

1. OK, so what signifies as "old"?
Should we go by Antique Roadshow standards--nothing newer than 25 years? Or is my son's beat up teddy bear (age 20) old enough?

2. My interpretation
Old is as much a matter of context as anything. Then again, it's not my suggestion so I'll defer to other opinions on this (CC?!).

Plus, I'm old so I may not be mentally sharp enough to comment...

4. How did I get to decide things. lol
I only remember Something Old from almost a year ago and thinking I had a great place to take pics. Though IMHO a 20 year old teddy bear that looks 20 years old would be great. Thinking Velveteen Rabbit here. I have stuffed animals my grandmother made us but they would never work since we babied them because grandma made them. RadFemFL with her old mill, fire truck etc has lots of something old. Though the last say is JeffR's since he is host this month.

5. If I have the last say, I say it should be wide open
Hard to tell how some creative interpretations of "Something Old' might go over in the Lounge, but old is pretty relative, IMHO. A worn pair of jeans, an fifty-year old barn, a cobblestone street, an ancient ruin... seems to me there's a lot of room for different interpretations depending on context.

Tangentially, I have five synthesizers and a bunch of sound modules and samplers dating from the mid-eighties to mid-nineties; believe it or not, in the navel-gazing world of electronic music, such things are termed "Vintage". (And I would be termed, even by people who've bought my music, a "Geezer" if I didn't record under an impersonal moniker.)

I hope people have some idiosyncratic ideas about "Something Old", and I think for the Submissions and actual Contest threads, the explanation should be that this is a very subjective theme.

Having said that, I wish someone would step up and explain what I'm thinking way better than I can...

6. Anthrax Coulter?
But she's really, really really old. Probably would wreck my lens, anyway.

8. Oh, shall I just do a self-portrait?
lol...I should use the picture of me with my mom and dad in my journal, but I didn't take it. Oh well. :)
