1. These are all really good

Seems we have differing opinions here.

4. This reminds me of the difference between what Americans call "old" ...
... and what people in other parts of the world call "old".

5. Well if I had a 1000 year old building around here
I'd definitely photograph it. But the oldest I have where I live is about 150 years old.

I could have put a picture of my 14 year old cat up. He's considered 'old'. :P

6. I recall first seeing the old Roman Wall at the Tower of London,
I stood there and looked at what remained - river rocks and mortar - and tried hard to wrap my head around the idea that what I was seeing was almost 2,000 year old and that some stonemasons built that with their bare hands and some manual tools, not much unlike it's done even today. While much of the Tower of London itself is older than any non-aboriginal structure in the Americas, this remaining portion of a Roman wall just stunned me. Never having been to see the pyramids in Egypt, I can only speculate about how people live in a place where they're surrounded with reminders of a far larger expanse of history than we 'New-Worlders.'

12. Funny, having grown up in Virginia
I have the same reaction when visiting the west coast and regarding what they consider historic.

Maybe for perspective I should go look through a telescope and ponder the age of the photons hitting my retinas.

7. My vote is for sagging roof.
The Mill House Door gets my second place vote.

8. I agree with priller
... cause great minds.....

Old Fire Truck - B&W---- The B&W treatment helps "age" the subject (although it probably works well in color too.. don't know). Also, I like that the subject seems to be "put out to pasture". Something old.... discarded... forgotten. Works very well with the theme.

Just my opinion and please consider the source. I really suck at this stuff. I honestly think that any of these would be good entries. Are you going for a "vote magnet" or just something you personally like?

Remember... the Raw Fishies

Ok... I've beaten that dead horse enough..... not.

9. OK, can we at least get a consensus here?
Every single person who's posted here or I've shown this thread to has picked a different favorite photo! So I guess I will narrow it down for you, to my top three favorites (in no particular order):

B&W Fire Truck
Through an Old Fireman's Eyes
Old Mill House Door

What do you think?

10. That's because you have a great
set of photos that make it very hard to pick one. I was stuck between the close up of the fire truck and the Old Mill Door. So it is Old Mill Door on your short list.

11. Definitely old B&W fire truck, because...

...the lack of leaves on the background trees and straw appearance of grass really frames the theme of age and abandonment well.

What lens length did you use? Whatever it was, it captures well the ominous perspective of being in the grill's direct path, which I find very cool.

Well done!
