Photo manipulation- Fake Infrared
I've been playing with some photos and learned how to create a passable "fake infrared" version. It's very easy in both Photoshop and in Paint Shop Pro. Use the channel mixer, move green to +200 and blue to -200 and then select monochrome. Play with the Constant slidebar until you get something that you like.

Here's the original:

and here's the "infrared" version:

Infrared darkens the sky and foliage turns almost white. By the way, did you know that most digital cameras can see infrared light? Try this experiment. Using your preview screen, point a remote control at the camera and press a button. If your camera shows a white light at the remote your camera can see infrared. Then you can get an infrared filter such as the Hoya R72 and take real infrared photos without the hassle of infrared film, darkrooms, etc.

It's amazing what you can learn if you Google the right words...

3. Beware of the infrared
because it can be addictive and cost you money. Great shot to do that with. I have the filters, now I am planning on getting my D100 switched over to full time infrared.
