Suggestion for ppl backing up to CDs and DVDs
I download autobooks from the usenet all the time. Almost all of them come with "pars" files. These files when used with a pars program will check all files that I download (or on a CD or DVD) and can recreate any bad files. Before I store any book/picture on a CD/DVD I now create a set of pars files for that book or group of pictures. I have learn the hard way that all it takes is one bad spot on a CD/DVD to lose a picture or a major part of an audiobook.

For Windows http://www.quickpar.org.uk/index.htm

and for the better OS -- Macs http://www.xs4all.nl/~gp/MacPAR_deLuxe/

Example of pars for a set of pictures
