Winter's on the horizon...
Summer has been cool and gray, for the most part. It's been raining for the past 10 days. Tonight at last the clouds parted just long enough for me to see SNOW on the mountains and catch some breaks at Pt. Woronzof (with the ever patient HullBoss shielding me with an umbrella from the showers).

And a blue one for F. Gordon.

1. it's just beautiful
I could spend a day just trying to "see" images in those clouds. /sigh One day I might get to visit.

I like the framing of the 2nd one.. everything is just filled in nicely

2. Hi Blue, it's looking that way in Germany too
I think we are in for an early fall. We had 3 wks. of rain, and then a nice break this week into the 80s again, but today is rain, heavy overcast.

I am reading a very cool book on clouds at present: The Cloudspotter's Guide (available on Amazon), so your pictures made me REALLY smile this morning.

Your first photo is spectacular. What kind of lens are you using, any filters? -48

5. I used the 17-85 mm lens

no filters (or I should say, just the UV filter), but I mostly used the fade correction and clarify in PaintShop and a little adjusting of highlight/midtone/shadow. Actually, the originals weren't too bad, so I think I must be getting this exposure thing figured out.

3. Winter?!!?!?!
It's been averaging about 103 here the last week. Next week we're supposed to hit a "cool patch" where the highs are only in the upper 90's.

4. I'll take the idea of winter under advisement
When it arrives here, it sure won't look like Alaska!

Very fine work, Blue.

6. Yes it is (winter)
We had a little snow in isolated areas round' here a few days ago, and that wonderful winter fog that creeps across the mountains. Course' I was camera-less. :( Or, maybe I'm lyin' and I really did have a camera but I suck so bad at Nature/Landscape that I wasn't even going to even bother.

That first one is wonderful. Some strange looking and intense storm clouds. And... and... blue.

7. Don't remind me...

I've been enjoying the fact that there are actually places worth photographing around here. I don't want to have to think that, after a few weeks in October, this area will just "shut down" for photography for the next four or five months. :-(

Nice, nice photos, BTW.

8. As usually you have some beautiful
pics of your backyard. The clouds are something else in all of them, but my fav is #2 with the last one following close. I love the way you use the trees to frame it and they give everything some scale.

My (your) pic arrived and is beautiful, they did a great job. I only wish I could of gotten one about 5 times bigger. But then have no idea where I would hang it.

9. That brings a smile to my face...
I was hoping it would turn out well. I guess that means I must have my monitor calibrated about right. Thank you so much for supporting me in this little venture.
