We longed to return to the USA all through the Clinton years. Six years into the neocon nightmare, we're feeling a bit smug that we had the foresight to be here.

That vantage point was the best way to appreciate the enormity of the thing. Beginning next year, this portion of the street will be permanently barred to cars. No word yet whether this assemblage will be re-constructed, but it's proved very popular in the weeks it's been up.
