The Official Contest Theme for September is****Trees*****

The subject of the photo will be a tree or trees. Forest may cross the line into a landscape. Simple was a very close second.:evilgrin:

Please use this thread to ask questions and bounce ideas off each other. That way everyone can find it. Does not include pick my pic polls though it is ok to post maybe pics in the thread.

September Contest Time-line:

September 15th - A photo submissions thread will be opened and all photos should be posted there. The submissions thread will remain open until September 20th or until there are 30 entries, which ever comes first.
A separate comments thread will be posted at the same time.

September 20th - Three preliminary polls with all submissions will be posted in the Lounge until September 25th where they will be voted on. The top ten (10) vote getters from these three polls will be posted in a final poll.

September 25th - A Final poll will be posted in the lounge and will remain until September 30th to determine the WINNER! The PRIZE is to host the contest, other prizes will not be as entertaining as this month's. Great job bvar22!

Somewhere during this contest at least one mistake will be made. Let me know as soon as you find it or them.

BASIC CONTEST/CHALLENGE RULES:

Only one entry per person. You need to post your entry in the submission thread started by the Host of a contest/challenge. Please be sure to include a "Title" for your photograph in the Subject line of your post. The submission thread is for photo entries only, no comments. The Host will usually start a separate thread just for comments.

Please try to keep your photograph entry no larger than 800 pixels in its longest dimension and under 200K in file size. If you need help posting a photograph or with image sizing just ask.

The winner of the contest agrees to host the next month's contest (or recruit someone else to host the contest), and pick the next month's theme. Typically the winners have not been able to enter a photograph in the next contest. Be sure to read the following before you enter a photograph.

CONTEST LICENSE:

An entrant to this contest, by submitting a photograph, is giving permission for that photograph to be copied to Demopedia and/or to a linked Gallery that will display the photographs entered for this contest for the purpose of publicizing future contests and/or commemorating current and past contests. The entrant retains all other rights to the photograph being submitted. Neither Demopedia and/or a linked Gallery may use any photograph submitted for any purpose other than to display the photograph being submitted by the entrant, and neither gains any real or implied ownership rights to the photograph.

An entrant can disclaim this Contest License and retain all rights to the photograph. 1. Scheduling conflict

CC, I'm going to be on a train and at the McKinley Princess on 9/15 and 9/16, home on the 17th, and then back to Denali National Park on the 18th. Is there any possibility you could save me a slot if you get 29 entries before the 17th? I was really hoping to get some tree shots with fall color while up in Talkeetna. If that's a problem, I'll go back through some of my old stuff and see if I can find something appropriate.

I don't think anyone else would have a problem either with that either.
I can't wait to see pictures from both trips, and pictures from NOLA when you go. BTW in 2003 I went to NOLA even though Isabel was out there threatening. NOLA was beautiful with perfect weather, Isabel hit here. I refused to come home until we had electric back.

Seriously, yew wood be the first to make a bad tree pun. Don't mean to bark at you, but this is something we need to root out of this group. If we don't stem the tide and nip this in the bud, we'll find ourselves inundated with tree-pun aficionados coming here to needle us, and true photography enthusiasts here will pine away, with no amount of "help me pick my entry" pollen' able to bring them back.

had to say it and your second one fits so well. I would say they are trees for contest purposes. Yes there are more than 3 or so but they are the main subject. It doesn't cross the line into landscape with trees in there.
