1. These are beautiful, Wild Horses...
I love these peaceful pastoral scenes - especially since I'm still in kind of a state of emotional unrest from our Gulf Coast trip. I think my favorite here is the cabin in the woods. The lighting is great.

2. Fine batch of photos
You might consider a little cropping in some of them, but otherwise all these pics need is an audience. Well done!

9. No need to apologize, wildhorses, please
I don't mean to generalize about the Lounge. Every forum has its boors. I'm the resident boor in this forum, come to think of it.:smoke:

You should be doing more than voting in the contests; you should be competing in them. regnaD kciN will be starting the seasonal contest soon. Please consider entering!

6. there is just something about black and white
it adds such an ethereal and illusive, timeless quality:shrug:

I really don't know what word I am looking for here but, you know what I mean, I hope:hi:

7. I agree about the black and white
Did you see my sad little black and white cemetery picture here? http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=280x21278#21297 It just didn't have the same effect in color.

10. Geez, I wish I could be an amateur
I'm still having difficulty removing the lens cap. But I'm getting better.

Very nice. You have this photographemicalistical stuff down quite well.

Hard to pick a fave... the meadow is quite beautiful and the "no-color" pics are awesome. I keep going back to the first one though. Sumtin' about the angles and lines that real appeal to me. It's got that "organized chaos" thing going on.

11. Some "amateur"...
Based on what you've posted here, I'd say I progressed beyond amateur status...well...let's see...maybe sometime before I die. ;-)

Seriously, lovely work -- far better than most of what I turned out for around my first thirty years of taking photos.

Don't be a stranger here!

1 - is my favorite photo of the bunch. It' needs straightend - it looks off level to me, and I would crop out the white barn roof on the left as it distracts the eye from the picture. It's sad to loose that winding road so another alternative is to edit the photo and make the barn room dark.

2 - perfect

3 - perfect

4 - perfect

5 - I know others like the photo but I don't. There isn't enough contrast. But then I like my blacks to be black. I think the picture gets lost in a bland haze. Sorry. Having a program that ups the contract may save it. It's a nice shot. Also, I think it would have looked better having the frame droped down and not cut off the barn.

6 - wonderful. My 2nd favorite shot of the bunch.

16. These are really nice, beautiful
Especially in terms of composition, they are very nice. Almost have a painting feel to them. They look like film, can you tell us what camera you used?

20. These are great!
Especially for a disposable camera. I've never had any success with them.

Your composition is very good. I love the view of the first shot of the church and the rolling hills. Very interesting perspective to take it from. I loved feeling as though I'm in that stream. And I am just a sucker for dogs shots of any kind.

My only suggestions were about speed and lighting. First, I would have suggested a slower shutter speed for the water to get that etherial flowing water effect. But can't control the shutter speed on a disposable. The second suggestion was to use a polarizing lens on the first shot because the sky seems a bit washed out. Again, you can't changes lenses on a disposable. However, I have had some interesting results using sunglasses over the lense if I didn't bring a polarizer. Sunglasses can be cheap camera filters.
