Images from the Ozarks....
Hi All :hi:
I've been without an InterNet connection since "The Move". I had a "Land Line" run out to the house so I could get a Dial-Up connection. It is very slow :( . A satellite broadband connection is promised for this area in December, but until then, I'm stuck in the slow lane.

The hiatus from DU (and the InterNet in general) has actually been healthy. It has let me repriortize some aspects of my life that were being neglected, though I have missed the Photo Forum. My needs in the new location are also more primary.

The "New Place" is beautiful. The cabin is only partially completed, and I am working to get the whole place closed in before it gets too cold. There have been many surprises, most very positive.

I have taken many pix. Most of them have been to document the rebuilding of the house and the cleaning up of the property. Most of the High Priority (Immediate) projects have been completed, and I had the time to take a look around the area last week. This area is beautiful. Autumn is still in full swing. Fall takes its time here. The color changes have been leisurely, with each day offering a new blend of greens orange, red, gold, and brown.
The Hardwood Forests of the Ozarks are stunning in their Fall colors.

All of the following pix were taken in the last two weeks, and the last 3 were taken yesterday.

Dial Up sucks.
Sorry I missed the contests.

1. Thanks for sharing these
You would have rocked in the Autumn contest with that scenery. It'll be just as incredible in winter, spring and summer, no doubt. Good luck with settling in. I'm envious as hell.

2. Beautiful, Bvar...
You must be enjoying your new life as a "country gentleman." These shots are really gorgeous.

3. Northern Arkansas is a nature lover's paradise.
Every time I go there I love it more. It is an under appreciated gem. I have hiked all over the Country and there are few places that I would rather be.

Someday the rest of the world is going to discover it and I won't be able to afford to visit.

I would definitely give up broadband to live there. I would not take me long to wear out my camera.

-----------
Bug is an interesting character. I like the fence line at the bottom of the frame.

A little bit of Photoshop exposure correction would help with the chicken coop picture. Repairing the building looks like a lot of work. The weathered lumber is charming.

The 5th image is really beautiful.

I like the 8th image too. One heroic cedar tree against an ocean of red. It's a bit like being a Democrat in Texas. In a few weeks all of the red will have fallen away and the evergreens will have the run of the place. I hope that you will post some winter pictures. I have never been up there in the snow.

That is a beautiful bike. The rural winding roads of the Ozarks would be a magnificent place to ride.

4. Awww, Bug looks very happy again
He is the cutest boy. I think I am going to have to get a maine coon for my next kitty. Between Bug and Oberon, I can't contain myself.

Your photos are gorgeous and make me want a house ASAP in the USA!! How much land did you pick up? -48

5. I'm soooo sorry I missed the "have a beer" invite
You're not going to have a shortage of subject matter. Quite a beautiful place... lots of "old stuff" too. :P

Don't they have Starbucks down the road where you can catch a wireless internet signal?
