The Year in Photos
I sent out this email to my family and friends, and thought I would share with you. You've seen some of these photos before. But I think they are the best ones I have taken this year.

1. Older Fireman
is one of "MY" favorites from this year, too. It is an amazing one....

It gets me every time.

There is some of Chihuly's work at the Borgota in Atlantic City. How DOES he do it???

2. Thanks!
I do think that is the best photo I have ever taken. Even with the darned seat belt in the way and the glare from the sun!

4. The breast cancer ladies...
That event was so inspirational to shoot. It really was hard to not stop shooting and just go up and hug each and every one of them!

5. These are good
China Doll girls, Chihuli flowers and a Gorilla that I wouldn't have guessed pic was taken at the zoon, hard hard choice for favorite...

I'm going to go for the girls.

That was really a hard choice since I love Chihuli's and now I'm inspired to go to the zoo and shoot.

My nieces are dolls, aren't they? They are my favorite photography subjects. :)

8. Most excellent
I can see why you'd put these in your personal best.... though I remember quite a few more that you've taken that would qualify IMHO as well.

Very nice portfolio of your year in photos. Hope that 2007 brings you a great year...

14. Just in case you're wondering, here's how I rate these photos
1. Older Fireman -- Easily the best photo I've taken. I love photographing older people and kids. They are both so expressive.

2. Breast Cancer Ladies -- Love the emotions in this photo.

3. Gorilla -- It took me several minutes to get this shot. The gorilla kept shaking his head 'no' every time I raised my camera. The glare from the sun was really bad, and this was shot through glass. I can't believe it came out as well as it did.

4. Moon Jellies -- I shot this through glass in a really dark room with no flash. Another one that I couldn't believe how well it came out.

5. Winter View -- Great composition to this shot.

6. Chihuly Glass -- Another photo with great composition and color.

7. Touching the Sky Trees -- Love the angle.

8. Homeless Man -- I like the contrast between the man and the minivan going down the street behind him. The emotions it evokes also makes it a great photo, for me.

9. Nieces at Easter -- This was taken in very bright light. The expressions here just get me. One sad because she wasn't thrilled about getting her picture taken, the other mischievious.

10. Bike Race -- A photo full of cute guys. Need I say more? The background is nice, too.

11. Gay Pride Parade -- Just a really cute photo.

15. Excellent photos, and a great idea
My older brother's wife used to always send out her Christmas letter talking about how great their year was, how smart and accomplished their kids are, and just how fabulous their life is. The rest of us in the family used to roll our eyes when we got them. I think my brother made her stop writing them.

This idea, however, just sending a small collection of great photos with minimal text, sending it as an email, I think is super. Maybe my family will roll their eyes at me, but I think I'm going to try this.

16. I have to admit, I do the 'holiday letter' thing too
But since I am a technical writer, I don't gush and use a bunch of flowery language. I keep it short and simple, just update on what everyone in my family is doing. I get one from my Aunt and Uncle, and their entire letter is listing all their ailments and vacations from the past year. Ugh. Mine is more like "Still living in Colorado, my sister is still working at Logitech, we had a family reunion this year, went home for thanksgiving."

Actually, when I think about it, I guess those letters ARE pretty boring...

17. I did this
We had two weddings and two teens who have changed so much....used photobucket's slideshow . VERY well received by all.

and about $100 cheaper than the photo cards plus postage.
