6. "scary looking"? I was raised in a Norwegian-American family.
Ole, the Christmas Nisse, was the "spirit of Christmas" every year at my grandparents' house. Talk about scary!

...where the predictably-faulty mechanical Father Christmas was supposed to open his arms in a hugging gesture, but his costume got caught up in it, so that he appeared to be flashing the customers. "Ho, ho, ho, little boys and girls, have I got something to show you..."
