Last year I struggled to find something to use as a winter shot. This year, no such problem - we actually have some "real" winter-like weather here.
Even though there was a wind chill advisory and short-lived freezing temps, I almost titled it "deceptive". Those poor shore birds are fighting an icy blast, but their eyes are shut against the sand being whipped around, not snow.
Should I have said that? - or let it be? I don't know, but do appreciate your comment. thanks again.

It was taken on New Year's Day during one of those mixed blessings cold fronts you northerners so kindly sent down last month. We've had some hellaweather change-ups this winter - not exactly comfortable to live through, but some great opportunities for getting out with a camera.
This one was definitely not a "come to Florida, we've got blue skies, warm turquoise waters, white sand beaches and gently swaying palm trees!" sort of day. "Come to Florida, don't forget to pack the parka." doesn't quite have the same ring to it. I highly doubt the FL board of tourism is going to be clamoring to include it in one of their brochures, but I'm glad you like it.

Me, too - being out in it.
and, Hey!, it also helped boost the economy. Went to Target and bought some gloves - on clearance.

No Fair!
No snow here at all...
*sigh*
My mountain pics are not nearly wintery enough...
I'll just have to sit this one out...
But these entries are really beautiful!

Hard-pressed to find a winter scene in the area of Central CA to SoCal!
I did enter one that is kind of holiday, but was definitely taken this winter in SoCal ;)

it was in the mid 60's today. As an ol Ohio lad who remembers the blizzard of '78 - I'm thinkin' I don't like my chances. We got no winter to speak off. We got the occasional cold day.
Photograph that...
Oh and as an Ol' Ohio lad who remembers the blizzard of '78, I'd much rather have this problem than that one... :-)

16. Winter doesn't have to be snowy to show its special character. |
|
The light is interesting, the shape of the denuded trees worth exploring. Sunsets are much more interesting in the winter.
