7. Oh they are just beautiful!
I love pictures of wildlife in their own habitat. Thanks for sharing.

I saw a fox on the way to Austria the other morning, he was laying in the snow, it was just starting to get light. But if we had stopped, he would have spooked and run away. I spent 20 minutes moaning about missing that shot. It would have been a spectacular. :(

8. These Dall sheep were fairly close to the road
but up high enough that they didn't get spooked while the three or four of us on the side of the road were out snapping. I think this bunch are fairly used to humans especially in the winter when they come down lower for food. We don't see them much in the summer.

10. Really great shots, Blue!
You're making me jones for your long lens! My favorite is Big Daddy, those horns are just magnificent! And I agree with whoever said it up-thread, really great exposure for it being so white. 90% of my winter shots are unusable because of overexposure. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but you have it down to an art, I think.

I've seen quite a few Dall sheep in Colorado, but I never seem to be able to get a good shot, every head shot is blurry. Of course all the photos of their butts are crystal clear. :eyes:

11. I had quite a few butt shots, too.
They do like to turn their backs on us.

12. Another sheep shot
Blue, Dall sheep along the Kenai fjords are what finally pushed me over the edge to get a decent camera after years of point and shoot cameras. I got tired of trying to convince people that the white specks stuck to the sides of cliffs really were sheep! This one chased me and my wife up to Logan pass in Glacier NP.

14. I know what you're saying...

I've got some old snapshots from the early '70s of bears in Denali NP that are just like that. :)

Is the sheep in your photo a Rocky Mountain bighorn? He appears a little bigger and browner than our Dalls. He looks like the master of his domain, doesn't he?
