THIS guy makes my life hell... absoulte hell
Edited on Tue Feb-05-08 11:47 AM by WannaJumpMyScooter
I have been stalking this spooky bird for two weeks, this is the best I got... of 3 frames as I walked down to the pond where he sits. Then he gets mad and flies off for a whole day.
I am glad he is getting hungry because of me.

I hope to get some better post-processing on him when I get home.

1. That's a Great Blue Heron and they are quite timid. About the only thing
you can do is become part of his environment. Be there before he arrives just observe, not moving enough to spook him. After about a week he'll not see you as a threat and you can get the shot you're looking for. Failing that a really good blind might work.

This is a Great White from my film days. K64, 300mm Zuiko 4.5 shot from a canoe about 50 feet away. The White is a lot more friendly--or stupid depending on your outlook. After a week of just stalking him I could get 'bout as close as I wanted. Never did get a good shot of Blue tho.

3. A small kayak would do or a blind.
Or better yet a blind on a kayak. ;)

7. Sometimes ya just need a chain saw
so you can get a clear line of view.

Doesn't always work, though...

Guess I need to get a chipper/shredder, too. That oughta do it.

Seriously,
I'm actually enjoying your unprocessed photos. There's a feel about them that reminds me of old paintings or photos out of an aged newspaper.
