17. An apt metaphor!
But, it was supposed to represent felonious monkey. See the little "W"s on the tail in place of the swastikas? At the time I made this I was convinced (foolish me) that * was going to go down in flames for all of his lies about Eye-rak, Valerie Plame, etc., etc! The title was "Lied Zeppelin".

38. Another odd self portrait. I was facing a sliding door at night.
I put the camera on automatic, no flash. All I did to the image was crop and adjusted the curves. I might have played with color balance, but I don't think I did much there. The heavy grain is from the usual artifacts you get with low light digital images. Instead of ruining the image, I tried to use the limitations to my advantage. It's not a great image, but that's fine. It's all about experimenting.

I like it.

I found one I shopped to death that I ended up liking ok. Can't remember what all I did to it but going to play around with some others one day to try and repeat it.

I was forced to do a x-mas picture and I hate pictures of me.

They're a very low volume item. You're lucky to find one. Upkeep is expensive, but if treated right and a bit lucky, it will last a lifetime.

I got in to see him for free a short time back. I was leafleting outside a theater where he was playing. One of the guys with his team came out and said he appreciated what I was doing and gave me a good ticket to the show. It was great.

And he, and you, seem to be aging much better than I am.

hypnotizing a crowd of maybe 400,000 (though the official attendance was later much-downgraded by the media and the cops).

If there's anyone around now who can legitimately claim that his guitar kills fascists, he's the guy.

52. Lines like these? There are others, many, not well publicized, but he is one:

Everything's broken in the birthplace of law
As Generation Two tries on his tragic flaw
America's might under desert sun
I saw her frightened eyes behind the muzzle of her gun

Uranium dust and the smell of decay
Sewage in the street where the kids run and play
Not enough morphine and not enough gauze
Firefight in darkness like snapping of jaws

This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad

You couldn't see the blast-the morning was bright-
But some radiant energy flared up into the light
Like the sky throwing its hands up in a horrified dismay
Or the souls of the dead as they sped on their way

Carbombed and carjacked and kidnapped and shot
How do you like it, this freedom we brought
We packed all the ordnance but the thing we forgot
Was a plan in case it didn't turn out quite like we thought

This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
This is Baghdad
