Urban hawk
My wife and I were walking downtown this afternoon when we spotted this hawk land after grabbing a pigeon. It looked warily at all the people walking around before taking off with the bird in its talons. It was an amazing sight, not something I expected to see in downtown Austin.

1. Great photo
with good eye contact! It looks like you found here a sharp-shinned hawk or Cooper's Hawk feasting on some rat birds otherwise known as rock pigeons.

2. I saw a set just like this on Flickr a few weeks ago
people were tearing the poster apart for not doing anything to help the smaller bird. Ridiculous.

Nice catch

Quite startling to see in an urban environment. Great shots.

5. 2nd shot is exceptional
How wonderful when a good camera and a fine photographer come together with stirring subject matter. A thing of beauty.
