This was my first shoot with the "open box" A-100, and the last one before the box gets closed back up and shipped off to their service center for warranty repair. The reason? Although (thanks to massive use of Lightroom's clone and healing brushes) you won't notice it in those photos, there's a deposit on, or flaw in, the lower left corner of the sensor's IR filter that causes a very noticeable smudge on the image. We're not talking about a dust spot, but a 1 mm-diameter something that looks like it might be a dried bit of reddish-brown paint (or, more likely, some sort of glue used in assembly). Since it's still under warranty, I'm not stupid enough to try to clean it myself, so off to Sony it goes. Anyway, back to the KM5D for the duration. It's ironic...I bought this unit mainly so that I'd have two compatible camera bodies, with one serving as my main camera, and the other as a backup for when the other needed repair. Little did I realize that the new camera would be the one that needed repair first!
