1. I love hyacinths.
We planted a bunch of them a couple of years ago, and they looked so pretty the following spring, but the second year they didn't come back. Is there a trick to having them come back year after year?

2. Not sure what should be done with them. I just watered them a bit
when there was a drought, that's all.

4. I think maybe we just didn't mulch them enough.
A lot of people grow bulbs up here, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, etc., but I think ours were in too exposed a spot. We'll probably try them again one of these years in a different place.

19. Maybe they dig time up in the fall and plant again in the spring.

7. Thank you. I can't wait for my Tulips, Columbines, and Cactus.
I've got several Black Pearl Peppers started. This plant has black leaves and fruit. It's considered ornamental, but it's very good, and very hot (30,000 SU). I put one dried one in my soups. I just cut off the stem end, and pop the whole thing, seeds and all. Most seeds stay in the fruit, but they put the fire in anyway.

From the web:

18. The seeds are fertile and will sprout. The fruit dries well.

6. Despite warmish temps & rain here today, when I got a break
early afternoon & ran over to the grocery store for dog vittles, it was like stepping out into a black and white world. If we could even progress to the muddy brown that's the traditionally predominant shade here at this time of year, that would be a step forward.

Thanks for the vivid promise of color ahead!

9. We're not even at brown yet.
That would be a hint of things to come. I can desaturate my few recent shots and there's no perceptible difference from the original color versions.:(

10. I miss those kind of winters. We haven't had any really good snows
for many winters. We have had a couple heavy ice storms. Those make for some dramatic images.

11. You want some of our muddy brown?
We've got a lot of that here. I'm ready for the green myself.
