I'm back
So, my work decided that we must absolutely have a new, decent camera...so I suggested the one I'd been thinking about buying anyway - the Canon Rebel XT - and lo and behold....I have a camera to play with. The best part of it is that everyone is okay if I borrow it overnight (or for a weekend)! I have to do a bunch of photo work in the next couple months in exchange, but I think the trade-off is worth it.

I can't tell you how good it feels to be taking pictures again. With everything going on, I haven't really done any shooting for probably about 6 months. The camera came today, and I clearly am going to need to take the time to get back into the swing of it, but here are a couple of shots from this afternoon that didn't suck too badly.

This was my idea for the dystopian theme...but it just isn't working right. I may try to fix the shot tomorrow, we'll see.

and this one I just thought was fun. But, unfortunately, the focus is off just slightly.

Escape!

1. Welcome back
:hi:

I have a Rebel XTi and really like it. Mine came with an additional 300mm lens which I haven't put to much use yet.

4. I'm glad to be back
and hopefully with decent stuff soon.

We got the standard kit lens - although I upgraded it to get one with Image Stabilizer, because I know I won't be the only one who will use the camera. Based on what they are looking for, I could justify getting additional lenses.

2. I love that "escape"
It reminds me of my strawberries which have escaped their bed and are now trailing all over the back yard.

we have a rosemary bush (because I don't know what else you could call it) that has taken over the whole herb garden.

on edit: Hi Blue, if that really is you :hi: If not, hi HullBoss :hi:

6. it's good to be back
although, I've quickly realized that I need to stay out of GD:P and even GD to retain my sanity around here.

Glad we've got the photogroup.

9. A wonder of Freudian emoticonography!
I'm referring, of course, to what happens when you type "GD : P" without the spaces.

Good move on getting the IS lens. I've got stabilization built into both the KM and Sony bodies, and wouldn't want a camera without it. I assume you're shooting RAW?

10. I did it on purpose.
It is the most appropriate name for the place.

I don't know enough about RAW to tell you if I am indeed shooting in it. But I'll learn pretty quickly.

Working with this camera, I'm feeling a little bit like I have to relearn the whole art of photography. It's a little daunting.

Hope things are better for you and the family. Great timing on the new camera, things are greening up and it is getting warmer and sunnier.
